Center For Health Information And Analysis Manager of Network Engineering in Boston, Massachusetts
The mission of the Center for Health Information and Analysis (CHIA) is to monitor the Massachusetts health care system and to provide reliable information and meaningful analysis for those seeking to improve health care quality, affordability, access, and outcomes.
The Manager of Network Engineering will report to the Director of IT Operations and be responsible for all on-premise network and server equipment. This resource will also collaborate with the Director of Application Development, the Director of Data Movement and Transformation, and the Chief Information Security Officer to manage the Microsoft Azure portion of CHIA?s infrastructure. The Manager will additionally have supervisory responsibility for CHIA?s other Network Engineer.
This is a full-time position with a salary of between $95,000 and $115,000 commensurate with experience. The successful candidate will work mostly remotely in the near term, but be prepared to work at the Center?s office at 501 Boylston Street, Boston, when the Center?s staff transitions back onsite at a to-be-determined time in 2021.
Specifically the Manager will:
Management of on-Premise VMWare Server environment including Patching, Monitoring, and troubleshooting issues
Configuration, maintenance, and support of CHIA?s network switches, routers, and other network appliances
Vendor relationship management with CHIA?s providers of internet and Azure connectivity
Hands on participation in the installation, upgrading and configuration of new servers including the implementation of backup/restore policy
Resolve escalated issues arising from operations that require coordination with other departments
Build and maintain four-five year roadmap including the planning, and recommendation of new hardware, systems management software and architecture and keep the agency up to date on new technologies and industry trends that may impact the organization and identify, recommend, and implement process improvement opportunities where applicable
Management of 1-2 network engineers or staff.
Support and monitoring of CHIA?s backup infrastructure including VEEAM and Netbackup
At least five years direct experience with VMWare management, maintenance, and monitoring including VMWare VSAN technology
At least seven years direct experience installing, patching, configuring and monitoring Windows Server, SQL Server, Linux based servers
Demonstrated ability to build a technology refresh plan including backup, disaster recovery, and secure file storage technologies
Experience with modern backup technologies including VEEAM required
Direct experience configuring, patching, and monitoring CISCO network appliances, and firewalls
Experience working with Azure, AWS or Google cloud
Ability to communicate professionally both verbally and written with all levels of the organization
Demonstrated leadership and staff management capabilities
Experience utilizing tools and research abilities to resolve technical issues
Ability to work independently prioritizes existing projects and proactively determine areas that require additional attention, monitoring or maintenance
Ability to create detailed Visio diagrams in support of network hardware deployments.
Ability to follow standard change management processes. Document and evaluate impact of required changes to the various networked systems. Plan, schedule and communicate changes to be implemented.
Ability to understand and follow sometimes-complex oral and written instructions.
Excellent organizational, verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills with a high degree of attention to detail
Strong interest in learning and keeping current with changing technologies
Education and Certifications:
Bachelor?s Degree or higher in computer science, Information Systems, Business Administration or other related field, or equivalent work experience.
Prefered Cisco Certifications: CCNA and CCNP or CCIE
Ability to lift up to 35lbs & push 65Lbs
Participation in after-hours upgrades, troubleshooting, and/or on-call availability as needed
