Boston Properties Senior Analyst, Financial Reporting in Boston, Massachusetts

Primary Purpose of Position:

Prepare, review and assist in the timely issuance of all internal and external financial reporting and technical accounting matters. To include the Company’s public reporting requirements and filings pursuant to SEC deadlines and the Company’s joint venture reporting requirements and deadlines.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in the preparation of the Company’s financial statements on Form 10-K and 10-Q to ensure the timely and accurate filing pursuant to SEC requirements and reporting deadlines including footnote, MD&A and XBRL disclosures.

  • Assist in reviewing joint venture financial statements and financial reporting packages prepared by the Property Accounting group.

  • Assist in ensuring that all reporting requirements are satisfied in accordance with joint venture agreements.

  • Assist in the preparation of the Company’s supplemental data package and investor presentations, including maintaining supporting schedules.

  • Work closely with external auditors on SEC reporting and joint venture stand-alone financial statement audits during the interim and year end periods.

  • Assist in researching and documenting complex transactions and complex lease accounting issues, considering the impact on the Company’s and joint venture reporting.

  • Participate as a resource to the Property Accounting group regarding financial statement preparation, new accounting pronouncement implementation and accounting for complex transactions.

  • Assist with the annual joint venture business plan/budgeting process.

  • Review property management, development and entity/partnership agreements for joint venture properties.

  • Participate on all joint venture acquisitions, dispositions and debt transactions.

  • Assist in monitoring fees payable by joint ventures to the Company to ensure accurate and proper accounting.

  • Assist in monitoring joint venture cash positions and analyze potential cash contribution needs or distribution requirements.

  • Assist in designing and creating custom reports to enhance efficiencies over the reporting processes related to accounting and financial reporting.

  • Assist in updating the accounting procedures manual, as required.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Requirements and Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree required, with a concentration in Accounting preferred.

  • A minimum of 1 to 3 years of accounting experience required.

  • Real estate industry experience preferred.

  • Public accounting audit experience preferred.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Excellent organization and analytical skills.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Ability to produce quality work in a consistent manner.

  • Ability to interact in an articulate, pleasant, courteous and professional manner.

  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.

  • Adaptability to changing demands and priorities.

  • Effective problem-solving skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications; knowledge of JD Edwards and Workiva preferred.

    Physical Requirements:

  • Involves work of a general office nature usually performed sitting such as answering the phone and operation of a computer.

  • Involves work of a general office nature usually performed standing such as operation of a photocopier and scanner.

  • Involves movement between departments to facilitate workflow.

    Internal and External Contacts:

  • This position regularly interfaces in both verbal and written form with all levels of professionals (in multiple locations) regarding a wide range of matters. Many matters are of a confidential nature.

  • This position regularly interfaces with external consultants and partners.

    Reporting Structure:

  • This position reports to the Vice President, Financial Reporting who will provide supervision, guidance, evaluate and monitor work performance on a periodic basis.
