TOOL & DIE MAKER, EXPERIENCED

*Position: *Tool and Die Maker with 10+ years experience *Type: *Full-Time, Direct Hire *Location: *Bothell WA 98021 *Pay:  *$ $34 - $45 per hour DOE *Schedule: *Monday -- Thursday, 5:00AM -- 3:30PM

JOB DETAILS:  Under limited supervision and with minimal technical guidance, perform advanced tool and die development work. Plan, design, construct, and/or repair a wide variety of intricate and complicated parts including tools, dies, jigs, gauges, machine components, molds, and fixtures. Items are produced to exacting tolerances and can be simple stand-alone fixtures all the way up to complicated and matched assemblies.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate closely with the Engineering team to conceptualize the development and configuration of new production methods, addressing technical challenges as they arise.
  • Interpret intricate specifications such as blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine the optimal approach for machining, assembly, and the sequence of operations required for components and/or assemblies.
  • Operate and set up a variety of machining equipment, including lathes, milling machines, precision surface grinders, drills, presses, and cutoff equipment, to efficiently complete assigned tasks.
  • Apply knowledge of production methods, equipment limitations, and material requirements to conceptualize tooling, selecting appropriate machines, feed rates, and cutting speeds.
  • Exercise independent judgment to calculate machining dimensions based on finished part requirements.
  • Perform tasks such as preparation, positioning setup, and layout of raw stock.
  • Ensure the continuous production readiness of existing equipment and tooling.
  • Manufacture parts with precise fits and adherence to exacting tolerances, validating them against established requirements. Verify dimensional accuracy, alignments, and clearances of finished parts.
  • Provide ongoing support for equipment, dies, fixtures, and tooling by restoring wear items to tolerance, crafting unavailable parts, and repairing damaged components.
  • Adhere to all company work schedules and attendance expectations, while meeting the physical and environmental demands of the position.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Estimate the time required for completion, document associated costs, and monitor the progress of the job.

``` - Conduct maintenance on all workshop equipment to ensure machines are in a safe and optimal condition. - Convey Heat Treating specifications to Outside Service Providers (OSP) and verify that finished parts align with the specified requirements.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Possession of a High School Diploma or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Over a decade of experience serving as a Tool & Die Maker.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively without direct supervision.
  • Adherence to safe work practices and strict compliance with safety guidelines.
  • Advanced proficiency in interpreting sketches and blueprints.
  • Advanced proficiency in planning the sequence of operations necessary to complete projects.
  • Effective collaboration with other departments and strong communication skills.
  • Successful operation of drill presses, lathe machines, milling machines, precision surface grinders, cutoff equipment, and hydraulic presses.
  • Possession of personal hand tools required for job performance.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
