Summary NIST works with industry and science to advance innovation and improve quality of life. We're looking for a Administrative Specialist to join our team! Responsibilities - Plans, coordinates, and executes the management of conferences, events, and other stakeholder engagement activities in support of program mission to provide regular updates and collect input on public safety communications technology research and development. - Develops and maintains strong relationships with event partners and stakeholders across industry, academia, public safety, and government to effectively collaborate before, during, and after engagements. - Manages meeting details including logistics, agenda development, speaker and content coordination, communications and outreach, venue coordination, attendee experience, approvals, and reporting. - Interfaces with conference chairs, often at the executive level to approve engagement designs, promotions, and parameters. - Supports other outreach and engagement activities such as technology roadshows for stakeholders and engaging external innovators through open innovation prize challenges. - Displays high attention to detail, effective organization, and strong communication skills. - Manages deadlines, review processes, ensuring program tasks are completed on schedule, and within budget. - Works as part of a team to define and achieve critical mission objectives. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications To qualify for the ZA-II, applicants must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level (ZA-I at NIST). Specialized experience is defined as: experience with program management, project or event coordination, partner and stakeholder engagement, and communication. OR Master's or equivalent degree. OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.B. or J.D., if related OR A combination of education and experience. To qualify for the ZA-III, applicants must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level (ZA-II at NIST). Specialized experience is defined as: experience with conference or event design and planning, including agenda development, speaker and content coordination, communication and outreach, venue coordination, attendee experience, approvals, and reporting. Ability to effectively communicate information orally and in writing to influence and motivate. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done. We will credit all qualifying volunteer experience in your application.
