SciTec Linux System Administrator in Boulder, Colorado

We support customers throughout the Department of Defense and U.S. Government in building innovative new tools to deliver unique world-class data exploitation capabilities.

SciTec has an immediate opportunity for a talented Linux System Administrator. Our ideal candidate will be responsible for helping to architect, as well as implement, administer and manage the various Linux technologies deployed across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Installation and configuration of workstations and servers in accordance with a defined baseline

  • Troubleshoot systems running RedHat Enterprise Linux 7/8

  • Security, system hardening, system integrity, system backup, and continuous monitoring/auditing

  • Patch / package management, third-party software installation and maintenance

  • Manage VMware virtualization infrastructure

  • Server installation and configuration

  • Troubleshooting hardware and software issues

  • Networking configuration in a mixed Linux

  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • A 4-year degree in Information Technology, Network Engineering, Computer Engineering, other relevant technical field, or equivalent experience

  • Ability to work with others in a constructive and collaborative manner

  • Enthusiastic, dynamic self-starter able to own issues to conclusion

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance

  • At least 1 year of Linux admin experience

  • Detail oriented

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

Candidates who have at least one-year ongoing professional experience in any of the following areas will be preferred

  • RedHat Enterprise Linux 7/8

  • Dell switches, servers and SAN

  • VMware vSphere and vCenter

  • DISA SCAP Compliance Checker and configuration

  • Security+

  • RHCSA / RHCE

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS)

  • Network-attached storage (NAS) and/or Storage Area Network (SAN) configuration and maintenance

  • Automation using shell / perl / python / powershell

  • CI/CD

  • Configuration management using Ansible or similar

  • Docker

The pay range for this position is $75,000 - $140,000 / year. SciTec considers several factors when extending an offer of employment, including but not limited to the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
