State of Massachusetts Network Administrator in Braintree, Massachusetts
JOB SUMMARY Responsible for the administration and maintenance of the Massachusetts State Lottery Commission's (MSLC) local and wide area networks. Responsibilities include providing connectivity and application support to end-users. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Assist in managing the local and wide area network. This includes capacity planning, equipment implementation, disaster recovery, data backups, expansion and network modifications as well as familiarity with Co-location facilities and services. * Troubleshoot network problems as they relate to the Microsoft Azure cloud, LAN, WAN or network peripherals (e.g., switches, routers). * Provide support to end-users including adding user accounts to MS365 Active Directory, providing permissions to resources and troubleshooting network problems. * Review LAN/WAN documentation to ensure consistency e.g., file server configuration and reports, end-user configurations, equipment inventory. * Maintain the network server and desktop operating systems. * Configure and install various network devices and services (Routers and Switches, Firewalls, VPN) * Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations. * Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability. * Provide Level – 2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues. * Liaise with trusted partners and IT personnel for problem resolution. * Maintain a thorough understanding of the basics behind the MSLC internal and hybrid networks (DNS, DHCP, Security, IP Routing, VPN, etc.). * Perform related duties as assigned. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Two years of experience with Active Directory, Microsoft 365 platform (including Exchange, Teams and SharePoint) and Windows Server operating systems operation, configuration, and troubleshooting. * Experience with support and administration of VMWare products including vSphere/ESXi. * Good organizational and oral/written communication skills and the ability to interact with all levels of management and staff. * Strong problem-solving skills andhigh attention to detail. * Familiarity with technical infrastructures, organized structures and operating procedures. * In-depth knowledge of Microsoft networking technology including TCP/IP, VPN Devices, DNS, DHCP, etc. * Experience in the configuration and troubleshooting of LAN/WAN networking components and the use of network management tools. * Three years of experience with end-user technology support of desktop and handheld hardware and software. * Prefer an industry standard network administration certification.
