Responsibilities You will lead a group of 3-5 personnel completing immediate tasks and ensure all supplies materials and equipment needed to accomplish the task are available. You will ensure that all work progresses on schedule and review work in progress. You will check to see that all work is done safely and that all instructions are carried out. You will ensure that all OSHA and local safety and housekeeping rules are followed and that the Facilities Manager and Facilities Maintenance Officer are advised of the status of operations and work in progress. You will plan, schedule and perform work to produce safe and pleasant drinking water and waster water plant effluent that meets waste discharge requirements at all times. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: The ability to perform tasks including leading as the Chief Plant Operator with a team of 2-5 personnel; must have and maintain the following certs with the state of California; Grade 2 Water, Grade 3 Wastewater, Grade 1 Distribution; Operates water and wastewater equipment and computerized controls such as SCADA, pumps, gate valves, blowers and outlets to adjust and regulate the flow of wastewater into and out of the system; Composes all reports designed to meet federal and state requirements as detailed in the state operating permit; enters test results/data into one or more computer programs; Performs preventative maintenance and repairs to water and wastewater equipment. Work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
