As the Logistics Associate Manager, you will be responsible for managing the Regional Distribution Centers of Third-Party Logistics partners (3PL), in North America for Convatec. In this role, you will manage the relationship, execute the receipt and storage of the finished goods, as well as Transportation to customers and redeployments orders to other Convatec Distribution Centers globally. This role is responsible for three key areas:

  1. Managing and monitoring the day-to-day operational performance of the third-party logistics providers.

  2. and financial budget of the contracted distribution centers and transportation.

  3. Managing the planning, execution, and tracking of key complex projects in accordance with agreed deliverables, timings, and budgets. Candidate must bring a strong technical knowledge of project management skills, techniques, processes and have a distribution / logistics background. Uses knowledge, data, and experiences to evaluate solutions and provide recommendations.

Candidate must have the ability to partner, form and lead cross-functional teams with internal and external team members ensuring common team objectives, goals and milestones are met while navigating internal and external processes and overcoming barriers.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Role is responsible for the development of a collaborative relationship with the third-party logistics providers. To create an environment that drives progressive improvement to achieve the jointly agreed objectives in service, quality, and cost. Role requires ownership of tracking, publishing, and meeting monthly contractual Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Convatec Customer focused KPIs.

Ensuring that the Distribution Center(s) and Transportation Team(s) are meeting all performance and financial targets. Role is also responsible for providing the narrative of the monthly KPI performance trends and any movement below and above the KPI minimum’s, in addition any variance to the monthly budget figures. The Logistics Manager will do this by:

  • Developing, maintaining, and presenting Key Performance Indicators for the US Warehouse and Transportation activities, including trends, targets, issues log, and actions monthly. This includes Monthly and Quarterly Business Reviews with 3PL to formally review Key performance indicators and action all outliers.

  • Responsible for monthly review and approval of all invoices for warehouse and transportation for the vendors managed. Invoices not approved must be reviewed with vendor until full resolution and in a timely manner.

  • All invoices must be tracked by the Logistics Manager monthly.

  • Responsible for Annual budget preparation, creation, and presentation.

Role is also responsible for:

  • Development and implementation of continuous improvement projects for the Distribution centers managed with the objective of optimizing processes, systems and/or costs. The role will be responsible for their own business case development, creation, and execution to plans.

  • Implement and track cost savings initiatives that will meet annual savings targets. Savings are to be tracked monthly and logged. Initiatives are presented to senior leadership periodically.

  • Continuously refining supplier performance activity and reporting

  • Weekly meetings with 3PL to review issues and action problems.

  • Monthly meeting with Key Customers to review their scorecard of Convatec’s supplier performance and create action plans if operational performance is lacking.

  • Owning the Customer experience KPIs for respective distribution operation. Proactively communicate to leadership details of why KPI’s are not met at the total operation level, franchise level and brand level.

  • Assist in the development of and achieving Convatec’s corporate Green Initiative targets in the operations that the role has oversite of the distribution operations.

  • Responsible for physical inventory counts during annual inventory and/or periodic Wall to Wall inventories, as well as ensuring Cycle Count Program is followed according to Corporate Policy, meeting ABC and Accuracy targets.

  • Responsible for owning the logistics operational response and decision making to quality and regulatory driven actions concerning Inventory within an operation (Stop-ship, Ship-on-Test, Reworks, Destructions). Role must ensure that all functions are receiving the response, execution and communication needed to compliantly respond to all quality and regulatory situations.

  • Develop and manage Business Continuity Plans for Operations as required to navigate strikes, natural disasters, cyber attacks, system failures and other business impacting issues. Development to include documentation as well as managing communications to Director of Logistics regarding the crisis and details of the business impacts.

  • Responsible for working with the Distribution Quality team in capturing complaints (CAPAs/SCARS) received from other Convatec Distribution Centers that are the result of shipments from the distribution center managed, initiating non-conformances as required and addressing the root cause of the failure.

  • Responsible for updating logistics director on all activities and plans to support the development and execution of Quarter/Year End activity.

  • Ensure Commercial Launches are successfully met by ensuring new item set up at the 3PL and the team is ready to ship products by launch date.

  • Active support of warehouse transfers as needed by testing, on site meetings and go live presence.

  • Providing analytical data as needed.

  • Escalate urgent issues to manager as needed.

Travel Requirements

  • 25% travel required for supplier performance meetings and other job-related meetings. Some overnight travel may be required.

About You

Key competencies and characteristics candidates need to demonstrate to help build our diverse, inclusive culture and to be successful in the role. Examples include:

  • Minimum 5+ years of leadership experience in managing 3PL Warehouse and Transportation required.

  • BS or BA degree preferred.

  • Project Management experience and certification preferred.

  • Problem solving capabilities with valid Business Case Development experience preferred.

  • Proficiency in verbal and written communications to be able to communicate the proper information unambiguously and with clarity.

  • Able to work collaboratively with external and internal stakeholders.

  • Well organized; high level of attention to detail and follow up.

  • Extensive knowledge in inventory, distribution, and operational procedures in SAP and Warehouse Management Systems.

  • Strong proficiency in MS Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) is essential. Role needs to perform its own analysis.

  • Demonstrated experience of identifying and implementing continuous improvement projects and tracking.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing an automated warehouse operation preferred.

  • Strong analytical skillset utilizing statistical processes, and detail-oriented work ethic.

  • IBP experience and dashboard creation preferred.

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions

This position is remote USA location-based role and must be located near Convatec or 3PL office locations.

Travel to Distribution Centers and other local meetings will be required.
