Civitanavi UK Ltd will be based in a brand new facility in Bristol, close to major aerospace and defence customers and travel links (hybrid working will be considered). The UK business has already established a strong reputation with major UK primes and is now ready to recruit for a number of key roles.

Job Summary
The Project Engineer / Project Lead role is very wide ranging and requires a person that can deal with many varied tasks, technical and non-technical, simultaneously and take responsibility for delivering a task or project. It is primarily a technical role but has strong elements of customer interfacing, project management implementation and budgetary control.
Responsibilities And Duties
Technical Team Lead, from concept to commissioning
Primary technical interface with customers and institutions
Point of contact for critical components suppliers and design subcontractors
Technical support to Business Development in engineering aspects of bids and proposals
Reviewing the Inertial Navigation Systems (INS) and Attitude, Heading Reference Systems (AHRS) and GPS/GNSS product requirements and preparing the Compliance Matrix
Participation in the identification and definition of new inertial and GNSS products
In coordination with the Project Management office, prepare and status a fully resourced and costed project plan
Generation of high-level technical description documentation (Product Description) or formal System Requirements, possibly using DOORS requirements management platform)
Coordination of the product test and qualification activities
Supervision of the integration and test of Navigation and Stabilization Systems with complex software and hardware
Drive projects to be delivered to schedule, cost & quality
Highlight what skills, tools and facilities are needed to successfully deliver projects.
Reporting Project Status to customers and internally
Highlight early technical risk or opportunities to consider
Supporting the Hardware/Software/System Qualification tasks
Promoting airworthiness and safety awareness throughout the design development lifecycle.
Monitoring and reporting formal product functional and performance qualification/certification testing, in laboratory (static/dynamic) and garner customer feedback on performance
Preparing technical design reviews pertaining to certification, monitoring the compliance of the review execution and outputs with the objectives and transition criteria
Active participation in the technical personnel recruitment by means of CV screening and interviews of candidates
Effective coordination of the team activities focused on adherence to timelines and ensuring proper quality of the required outputs
Understand the team members career aspirations and support their continuous training and skills improvement
Management of conflicts within the team members and with other company departments.
Qualifications And Skills
Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering or a similar related discipline. In the absence of a degree, significant and relevant experience is required. (Proof of qualifications will be required).
Previous experience of project lead roles, preferably in aerospace and defence applications
An engineering specialty in the area of precision instrument design and development for defence, aerospace and commercial implementations
Experience working with and the use of inertial sensors i.e. gyroscopes, accelerometers
Experience working with and the use of IMUs, AHRS, Air Data Systems, GPS/GNSS
Knowledge of the general functionality and error drivers of FOGs, MEMS, quartz inertial sensors and air data systems
Knowledge of Avionics, navigation and related algorithms, control and communication systems
Knowledge of the main avionics communication interfaces and protocols
Knowledge of environmental and EMC test standards, such as RTCA DO-160, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461
Knowledge of SW DO-178C and HW DO-254 certification standards
Knowledge of reliability standards such as MIL-HDBK-217F
Familiarity with requirements management tools (like IBM Rational DOORS)
Competent in technical report writing and presentations
A team player and effective communicator
Able to interact at all technical levels with customers, technical teams and business management
