POSITION DETAILS

The State University of New York, Brooklyn Educational Opportunity Center, administered by New York City College of Technology/CUNY, provides tuition free academic and workforce development training to eligible New York State residents, providing a pathway to lifelong learning, college access and economic self-sufficiency.

Under the supervision of the manager in the Office of the Executive Director responsible for marketing and communication, the Communications and Multimedia Coordinator assists in the development and implementation of the strategic planning associated with communications, marketing, and advertising for the EOC. The Communications and Multimedia Coordinator supports community engagement with EOC programs, services, and successes.

The duties of the position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Support the creation and maintenance of multi-media communication including web content and monthly digital newsletter

  • Work closely with departments to create multi-media content

  • Assist in creating engaging, innovative content for marketing and advertising

  • Assist in overseeing social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)

  • Schedule social media posts

  • Capture photography and manage social media engagement

  • Build relationships with students, staff, supporters, and alumni

  • Assist in maintaining brand consistency and alignment with EOC goals and objectives

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Flexible schedule is required: day, evening and weekend hours may be assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Communications or Journalism.

  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and research experience.

  • Working knowledge of social media platforms, Word Press, Constant Contact, Canva or similar tools.

  • Ability to handle multiple assignments and to establish and meet deadlines.

  • Skilled in acquiring, implementing, and disseminating new information efficiently and effectively.

  • Ability to establish strong working relationships with all levels of faculty, staff, students and external constituents.

CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

Supports projects, initiatives, and activities within an Educational Opportunity Center (EOC).

  • Organizes office functions such as communications, meeting schedules, work plans, staff assignments, and distributing information

  • Collects data for, prepares, and distributes reports and presentations using word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software

  • Updates office databases, lists, and files to ensure completeness and accuracy; maintains current information on department web site(s); maintains department archives and collections

  • Conducts internet and/or database research and performs basic systems queries to locate information related to department activities

  • Maintains department fiscal plans and budgets; assists in budget administration and invoice processing

  • Provides basic information, instructions, and materials as requested by students, faculty, and others who contact the department

  • May supervise office staff and student workers

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

$44,411 to $54,268. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
