The D&T Finance Team is responsible for the end-to-end financial management of D&T, covering a c. 400M GBP annual spend across IT running costs (BAU) and IT portfolio (projects) investment. This includes in-year performance management and forecasting, as well as operational- and long-term planning. We provide finance business partnering support to an organization of 1000+ employees.

The D&T Portfolio Finance Manager will contribute to the achievement of D&T's objectives through high-quality business partnering, supporting the leadership in managing performance via effective cost-control, driving sustainable productivity and benefit delivery via value creation. This position offers an opportunity to play a pivotal role in transforming strategy into results, thereby improving Diageo's financial performance in a dynamic and rapidly evolving industry landscape.

About the role:

  • Responsible for the delivery of Annual Operating Plan (AOP) for D&T portfolio and the functional Value Streams. This includes end-to-end financial support from annual financial planning through execution, insightful performance analysis, scenario modelling and driving productivity initiatives.

  • Own the total cost-to-serve for the functional areas – across BAU and Portfolio - within and beyond the fiscal year.

  • Own the D&T portfolio financial management process including business case approval, inflight cost and financial performance management, forecasting, reporting, and benefits tracking post completion. Drive continuous improvement and innovation through simplification and leveraging technology.

  • Work closely with the Voyager program leadership (a multi-year global business transformation program with an investment of c. 350 M GBP) to maximize the value of the investment.

  • Drive enhanced financial capabilities for the D&T portfolio community (>100 colleagues)

  • Liaise with Corporate Finance and Global Capex teams on D&T financial outlook, risk and opportunities vs AOP.

  • Act as the main finance business partner for the D&T Portfolio & Project Centre and Value Stream leadership. Collaborate with the Strategy- and Portfolio Planning / PMO teams to deliver D&T’s strategic- and portfolio plans through effective investment prioritization.

  • Measure execution and performance against strategic objectives and identify opportunities for continuous improvement and efficiencies in ways of working

  • The role includes management of five direct reports (Investment Finance Business Partners supporting value streams in managing performance, operating cost, and portfolio investment) and indirect supervision of Voyager Finance Manager. As such, managing people to success via accelerating growth and development is a key component.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in Finance, including experience at management level.

  • Proven ability to impact and influence, at a senior stakeholder level, virtually across functions / markets with solid networking, influencing & communication skills.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing and developing high-performing teams, with the ability to inspire and influence others towards a common vision.

  • Strong financial analysis skills, able to see beyond the numbers and create actionable insights to influence stakeholders.

  • Clear and effective communication, strong presentation skills.

  • Understanding of the impact/correspondence of investments on the P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow.

  • Ability to ‘zoom in’ and ‘zoom out’ – have strong attention to detail but also business acumen and understanding of how strategic decisions impact operations.

  • Experience of working with- and managing global teams across multiple locations and with diverse cultures.
