M&T Bank 2025 Executive Associate Program - Finance & Regulatory Reporting Oversight in Buffalo, New York

Overview:

The Executive Associate Program is designed for 2nd year MBA students who seek to accelerate their career within M&T Bank. Program hires will undergo an immersive leadership experience designed to develop leadership competencies and strategic capabilities. Throughout the first year, the incoming cohort will be introduced to Program alumni, bank wide leadership, and collaborate with peers to drive change to support the vision and goals of the Bank.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:

The Finance and Regulatory Reporting Oversight team ensures the financial stability and risk resilience of the Bank. This team is responsible for identifying, analyzing, and managing risks related to financial strategies, and overall financial health. Responsible for the monitoring of market trends, regulatory changes, and general financial operations, this team ensures that the Bank can make informed financial decisions. This team sits within the greater Risk divisions along with Model Risk, and Treasury Risk. Collectively, these groups are responsible for several key functions at M&T Bank:

  • Independent Risk Management (IRM) Oversight of the Bank’s Treasury related activities, including Model, Capital, Liquidity & Funding, Interest Risk Rate, and Market Risk

  • Independent validation and governance of enterprise-wide models and tools with overall responsibility for Model Risk Management in the Bank.

  • Oversight of Reserve-mandated annual Capital Planning, the Dodd-Frank Stress Test, and the Comprehensive Capital Analysis & Review (CCAR)

  • Oversight of the Bank’s Living Wills and the annual submission oversight of the FDIC 370 reports, as mandated by regulatory agencies

  • Oversight of emerging and evolving regulatory issues

Primary Responsibilities:

As an Executive Associate with this team, you’ll be responsible for supporting the ongoing assessment, design, and continuous improvement of the Oversight team’s needs. You’ll have exposure to cross functional teams with the ability to manage activities in support of regulatory submissions. Your responsibilities may include:

  • Perform detailed, interpretative financial analyses utilizing complex modeling scenarios. Review and challenge model inputs and outcomes to ensure accuracy of results

  • Responsible for the development in final form of presentations, scenario narratives, memorandums and regulatory forms that analyze and summarize M&T’s capital projections for senior management, internal risk governance committees and regulators

  • Analysis of divisional financial statements and provide reporting/recommendations and potentially meeting multiple quarterly deadlines

  • Conduct ongoing assessment of industry best practices, evolving regulatory expectations, process efficiencies

  • Manage daily tracking of open issues and remediation plans, and develop regular reporting to share with senior leaders and the Board

  • Direct the day-to-day projects, initiatives and activities relating to one or more of the department’s functional groups

Scope of Responsibilities:

Perform project/management related assignments in field of expertise within the Executive Associate Program.

Education and Experience Required:

Completed MBA from an accredited business school.

Minimum two years professional, full time work experience.

Demonstrated leadership potential, as evidenced through previous work experience, extracurricular activities, or community involvement

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and critically analyze complex business challenges

Strong project management skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $100,000 - $171,000. The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation. The range listed above encompasses all geographic locations. The pay rate specific to your location will fall within this range and is available from your recruiter.
