We are currently seeking a Data Engineer in our Depew, NY office. Osmose helps guide and optimize the lifecycle of billions of dollars of electric utility infrastructure data/analytics has become a key element in designing optimized asset management strategies. The Data Engineer will be responsible for building and maintaining the data infrastructure in accordance to a defined roadmap for Osmose’s short term and long term needs for capturing, managing and processing strategic utility infrastructure data. This position requires strong technical skills as well as the ability to work collaboratively as a key member of both the Asset Analytics and Solutions Consulting teams

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain data models, ETL processes and workflows to capture, store and process utility infrastructure data in specific ways that make it actionable in machine learning / modeling processes.

  • Provide SME to the data science team on Osmose data and collaborate on model development, model testing and model maintenance ensuring data accuracy and flexibility

  • Identify and implement tools and software to streamline the data pipelines and modeling processes.

  • Act as a contributing member of the project team from project inception to completion by performing statistical analysis and data interpretation.

  • Collaborate with Solutions Consultants and other staff members to identify specific data needs to supplement the consultative selling engagements.

  • Maintain understanding of how individual work and decisions fit into the broader organizational picture.

  • Keep skills updated and remain proactively aware of technology and methodologies relevant to the position, and personal growth.

    Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years experience in a related role including previous work as a Data Analyst/Engineer preferably in the areas of asset management, analytics and solution building; a Bachelor's Degree is preferred but not required. Utility services background a plus.

  • Experience / understanding of data warehousing and ETL processes and tools

  • Strong T-SQL skills, basic working knowledge of modern scripting languages (preferably R and Python).

  • Ability to effectively present information, orally and in written form, to internal resources, management and clients. Demonstrated computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint. SQL Server, Python, R, ArcGIS and internet research skills.

  • Experience / understanding of data science and machine learning concepts preferred

    Strong data analysis and visualization skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills to explain complex technical topics in an easily digestible manner.

  • Willingness to work varied hours when necessary to achieve the desired results.
