Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced HR Generalist to support our Buffalo, NY manufacturing facility. This role will play a pivotal part in overseeing recruitment efforts, fostering positive employee relations, managing leaves and workers' compensation claims, and driving employee engagement initiatives to enhance our workplace environment. Assists the Human Resources Manager administering programs, policies and practices that provide and maintain a positive and productive work environment for all employees.

Essential Job Functions

Recruitment and Onboarding

  • Lead recruitment efforts for hourly positions, from job posting to candidate selection, ensuring alignment with EEO goals.

  • Manage onboarding and offboarding processes, including pre-employment screenings, new hire orientations and exit interviews, to facilitate smooth integration into and out of the organization.

Employee Relations and Performance Management

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to management and employees on matters pertaining to employee relations.

  • Oversee performance management processes, including performance reviews and disciplinary actions, to ensure fair and consistent treatment of employees.

  • Provide expert-level consultation, investigation, and resolution of employee relations issues and conflict with limited supervision.

Leaves and Workers' Compensation

  • Manage leaves of absence, including disability, FMLA, and other related regulations, to support employees during times of need.

  • Handle workers' compensation claims, ensuring timely processing and compliance with relevant laws and policies.

Employee Engagement

  • Develop and implement initiatives to enhance employee engagement and morale within the facility.

  • Coordinate employee events, recognition programs, and feedback mechanisms to foster a culture of appreciation and continuous improvement.

  • Continuously foster relationships with all manufacturing employees to ensure open lines of communication and trust.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR management or related discipline

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working within an HR capacity

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to navigate complex HR issues with discretion and integrity

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PP)

  • Familiarity with Applicant Tracking systems helpful

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability and willingness to interact with all people in a sensitive, responsive manner

  • High level of listening, verbal, and written communication skills

  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to a fast-paced, changing environment

Salary range: $60,000-75,000 annually DOE
