Position Summary:

The Manager of Allocation is responsible to direct, manage and monitor the execution of product allocation to support company strategy and achieve inventory objectives by planning region and attributes. Develops and trains a team of, team lead, and allocations analyst. Responsible for updating allocation analyst onboarding materials to ensure a comprehensive training experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Business Performance and Inventory Strategies

  • Develops and oversees execution of the allocation strategy by division while ensuring the breadth of assortment.

  • Recommends adjustments to the allocation strategy as needed to support business needs.

  • Oversees the use of the Allocation tool by Allocation Analysts and ensures use of standardized best practices when performing allocations.

  • Sets and monitors productivity standards and service level performance of the department, in conjunction with Director of Allocation Strategy.

  • Manages allocation effectiveness by reviewing the Monthly Ending Inventory Variance Report to ensure inventory targets are being met by class, region, VGR (volume grade).

  • Surfaces business opportunities to increase sales and inventory productivity in collaboration with Location Planners and Merchants to the Director of Allocation Strategy and VPs Planning & Allocation.

  • Assists with the resolution of receiving issues with DC teams.

  • Works with technical resources to enhance use of Allocation tool and its effectiveness.

  • Leads team in recommending potential allocation systems and process enhancements.

  • Leads team in visits to store locations to validate inventory is in line with reports and understand improvement opportunities for allocation.

  • Creates strong partnership with Buying and Planning to achieve financial objectives.

  • Maintains effective working relationship with DC teams.

  • Considers individual, division, and total company goals when making decisions.

  • Sets standard for team to listen to others and acts as a team player across business groups

  • Continually trains and develops Allocation Analysts to increase allocation and analytical skills.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

Experience:

  • 1-3 years management experience

  • 5-10 years of merchandise planning or allocations experience.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Effective management of allocations

  • Ability to influence up, down and cross-functionality

  • Effective presentation/communication delivery

  • Analytical/Critical Thinker

  • Understands complexities/uniqueness of off-price and retail business processes

  • People development and leadership skill
