Overview

The Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion will play a key role in developing and executing strategies to promote diversity and inclusion within the organization. Responsibilities include overseeing DEI Councils and Associate Resource Groups, managing key initiatives such as talent management and education, collaborating with internal teams on communication strategies, and cultivating strategic partnerships. The role involves community involvement, supporting community engagement efforts, and providing expert consultation to HR teams.
A Day in the Life:

  • Assist the Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in formulating and executing DEI strategies, while identifying and fostering collaborative opportunities within the DEI team.

  • Oversee the organization and strategic direction of Burlington’s DEI Councils and Associate Resource Groups (ARGs), ensuring effective structure and alignment of initiatives with organizational goals.

  • Manage key DEI initiatives, including but not limited to talent management, education, supplier diversity, coordinating heritage month celebrations and other campaigns, to promote cultural awareness and inclusion.

  • Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive suite of workplace analytics, including DEI dashboards, to track and report on diversity metrics, workplace equity and inclusion initiatives across the organization.

  • Use data-driven insights to guide strategic decisions and measure the impact of DEI programs.

  • Partner with internal stakeholders (marketing, communications, talent acquisition, store operations, merchandising, distribution centers, etc.) to drive DEI initiatives and support enterprise-wide programs.

  • Advise on the integration of diversity metrics into HR systems and processes, ensuring a metrics driven approach to DEI strategy & execution.

  • Support DEI team’s efforts to increase community engagement and public outreach for relevant programs and initiatives.

You'll Come With:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Sociology, Psychology, or a similar field.

  • 6-8 years of extensive expertise in DEI demonstrated through strategic leadership and program development in large companies.

  • A DEI certification from a respected university or organization (e.g. Certified Diversity Professional (CDP) Certificate or an equivalent.

  • Proven experience using data-driven insights to guide strategic decisions and measure the impact of DEI programs.

  • Effective communication skills capable of clearly and convincingly discussing various DEI topics with understanding and confidence.

  • Strong abilities in managing both programs and projects, with excellent time management and organizational skills.
