Overview
Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the SVP, Leadership & Organizational Development, DEI, & Community Impact, the VP of Employee Engagement, Culture and Community will lead, develop and manage associate engagement and community engagement strategy and related initiatives that help shape and influence Burlington’s culture and community impact. Works closely with HR Business Partners and business leaders at Burlington by defining, developing, implementing, and evaluating strategies and programs to enhance the associate experience and elevate our talent to drive business goals and priorities forward. Works closely with external stakeholders to support and empower the communities that Burlington serves.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team to organize and support key company culture and associate engagement initiatives, including engagement surveys, data analytics, and reporting, internal and external associate event planning, and employee wellness programming supporting associate growth and development initiatives to inform rewards, recognition, and retention strategies.

  • Utilize workforce analytics and engagement survey data to identify trends and opportunities, develop both enterprise-wide and department specific programming and initiatives to address and measure achievement of established goals.

  • Empower associates and leaders to feel ownership of their professional and personal growth through impactful programming and engagement opportunities.

  • Collaborate with HR Business partners (Organizational Development & Learning, DEI, Talent, Benefits, etc.) and others (Marketing, etc.) to build on enterprise offerings and provide tailored approaches for the business that promote a growth and innovative culture.

  • Help develop a strategy and execute initiatives focusing on the employee experience that will include event management, communication and feedback channels, leveraging technology and innovative techniques aligned with industry best practices and ongoing process improvement.

  • Develop community impact strategy that incorporates philanthropic efforts, volunteerism, events, and external community partnerships.

  • Provide oversight and support for Burlington Foundation related activities.

  • Lead with an inclusive, professionally agile, and innovative mindset to bring Burlington’s vision and values to life for our leaders and managers.

Education and Qualifications:
Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

Experience:

  • 3-5+ years executive leadership experience with an established track record of successfully building and leading teams to execute enterprise strategy related to employee engagement, philanthropy, event management, volunteerism and community partnerships.

  • 7+ years of experience in employee engagement; community engagement, project management experience required; experience in retail preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • High-level knowledge of high performing workforce culture-building strategy & execution, associate engagement communications; demonstrated track record of conducting successful, proactive engagement plans.

  • Exceptional writing and presentation skills, with ability to synthesize complex concepts and translate into effective presentations.

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to lead projects end-to-end that involve collaborating with multiple stakeholders across various functional areas.

  • Proven ability to successfully influence, facilitate, and partner.

  • Facilitation and presentation skills.

  • Executive presence supporting extensive contact with senior leaders.

  • Negotiation and Influencing techniques.

  • Ability to build strong internal and external relationships.

  • High attention to detail, ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.

  • Proactive and highly motivated with the ability to multi-task productively and to work independently as well as collaboratively.

  • Excellent organizational, follow-up and time management skills.
