We are looking for a Civil Design CAD Technician to support our Burnaby, BC or Calgary, AB team in the design and delivery of water, wastewater, conveyance, and transportation projects. In this role, you’ll be responsible for preparing drawings and sketches using CAD workstations, appropriate design criteria, and technical manuals often working closely with engineers to coordinate designs.

You’ll also perform basic land surveying, geometric, trigonometric, volumetric, and hydraulic calculations, and organize assignments to ensure design budgets and timelines are met. You’ll interface with internal and external contacts and will coordinate with multiple project design disciplines for interference checking and quality control.

You’ll be working mainly from home (unless you prefer coming into the office), with the expectation to travel for client /site meetings and occasional team meetings.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • At least 8 years’ experience as a civil/water/transportation designer/ drafter, delivering site civil designs including site layouts buried piping and services and site grading

  • Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering Technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • A.Sc.T. Certification or equivalent is an asset

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil3D

  • Proficiency with Microstation and the Bentley Open Technology software would be an asset

  • Experience in mentoring and reviewing deliverables prepared by other members of the design team

  • Some construction experience preferred

  • Experience using ProjectWise and/or BIM360/Autodesk Construction Cloud would be an asset

  • Experience with DBB and DDB would be an asset

The base salary range for this position is $54,400 to $71,475. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across British Columbia, Canada locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
