This one (1) year contract position works closely with other accounting team members in providing timely accurate management reporting and analytical support to Property Management, Asset Management, and Corporate Accounting.
This position involves the following areas of responsibility:
Monthly journal entry preparation in an accurate and timely manner
Daily bank reconciliation and clearing of cheques
Review monthly rent roll reconciliation
Preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliation
Monthly GST reconciliation
Assist with the preparation of monthly and quarterly reporting packages for accounting and construction group
Assist during the interim and year-end audit
Input and preparation of annual budget
Year-end Adjustments and Pre-billings: ensuring that all pertinent information necessary to prepare Year-end Adjustment and Pre-billings are made available for timely completion
Review and code invoices through an automated invoicing system (Yardi) ensuring charges are within contract amounts
Assisting various departments with accounting information/direction as needed
Liaising with counterparts in other Brookfield offices
Other projects as required
SERVICE / PERSONAL SKILLS:
Excellent communication and organizational skills. Must be able to work both in a team environment and independently in a highly deadline-driven environment. Self-motivated, and detail-oriented with strong initiative and analytical skills. Multi-tasking, problem-solving, and prioritization skills are critical to this role. EXPERIENCE & TECHNICAL SKILLS:
One (1) year of experience in a property accounting environment is preferred but not required.
Advanced-level MS Excel, MS Outlook, and MS Word is required.
Solid working knowledge of accounting software is preferred (Yardi Voyager).
EDUCATION / DESIGNATIONS / LICENSES:
Completion of a post-secondary diploma or equivalent in a related field
Working toward a professional accounting designation, CPA, CGA, or CMA is preferred but not required
