Our client has won additional work in St. Mary's county and has been asked by one of their customers to complete utility locating services. Due to continually growing their footprint in MD and expanding their locating services department they need a highly skilled professional to join the team as a utility locator specializing in fiber, water, and sewer.

Their locating department plays a pivotal role in ensuring project safety and efficiency. Utilizing specialized equipment and techniques, they accurately determine the location of underground utilities, averting accidental damage during excavation or construction activities. Beyond telecommunications, their locating services encompass utilities such as electrical cables, water mains, and sewer lines, ensuring comprehensive coverage and adherence to safety standards.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct site surveys to identify and mark the location of underground utilities.

• Use a variety of tools and equipment, such as ground-penetrating radar and electromagnetic locators, to detect and map underground utilities.

• Collaborate with construction crews, engineers, and project managers to ensure accurate utility mapping and safe excavation practices.

• Record and document utility locations and any relevant information for future reference.

• Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries.

Top Skills Details:

  1. 3+ years of utility locating in the telecommunications industry including fiber, water, and sewer (gas is a nice-to-have).

  2. Accountability and self-management with problem solving skills.

  3. Ability to interpret mapping tools, coordinates, drawings, etc. (experience with ARCGIS is a plus)
