How will you make an impact?

This position is responsible for leading financial planning and analysis activities supporting the Bioproduction Group (BPG). Key responsibilities focus on month end reporting and analysis, leading and coordinating planning and forecasting activities, and ad hoc FP&A support as required. Reporting to the BPG VP of Finance this person will partner with the BPG Finance Leadership Team, the Group President and the BPG Leadership team on a frequent basis. The Bioproduction Group is a $3B+ group within Thermo Fisher Scientific that supports customers by enabling and accelerating biologics therapies development and commercialization.

What will you do?

Financial Analysis:

  • Oversee Group month end consolidation activities and ensure compliance with Corporate timelines and expectations, including but not limited to the tracking of information needed to report on the progress of acquisitions versus the targets set at the time of the deal.

  • Build and maintain the Group monthly financial reporting and analysis package. Monthly package and analysis to include:

  • Key P&L and scorecard drivers

  • Gross Margin analysis focusing on revenue (volume and pricing), direct material spend, and operating expenses

  • Working capital analysis

  • Revenue and Bookings analysis

  • Lead BPG coordination and preparation of consolidated Monthly and Quarterly Business Review (MBR/QBR) presentations

Planning and Forecasting:

  • Assist with all key annual operating plan tasks including:

  • Target setting

  • Developing annual operating plan guidance

  • Building AOP calendar – key process due dates, review meetings, etc

  • Building the AOP management review package

  • Assist in preparation of AOP presentation to Corporate

  • Drive adherence to timelines

  • Coordinate with Corporate / Shared Service organizations on allocation changes

  • Lead the monthly outlook and quarterly flash processes

  • Act as AI champion for the BPG Finance organization

How will you get here?

Education and Experience

  • A degree in Finance or Accounting, preferably an MBA, CPA or CMA certification.

  • 10+ years of experience in progressive Finance roles including FP&A

  • Demonstrated experience applying intellectual curiosity to uncover insights and drive differentiated outcomes where others could not

  • Excellent credentials and strong finance skills

  • Experience in leading and running a highly professional team

  • Prior experience in a large global company and highly matrixed organization

  • Proficient at understanding and proactively communicating the financial implications of business decisions and dynamics

  • Building and testing business cases and financial models

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • PLNR 2.0 knowledge is key. Cognos/EDW and SPOT would be a plus.

  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail (emphasis on accuracy and timeliness) while being able to step back and analyze the overall business impact.

  • Proven people and project management experience with successful results.

  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage by influence across a global organization.

  • Outstanding leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Track record of developing meaningful relationships at all levels within an organization – at both the business unit and divisional level, and can operate effectively in a matrix reporting structure.

  • Engaged, process focused leader, who values frequent interactions and dialog with subordinates, peers, and the company’s leadership team.

  • Possess a strong set of personal and business values that coincide with those of the 4Is.

  • Ability to thrive and lead in a complex business environment

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $160,100.00–$240,125.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
