Job Title: Millwright Apprentice

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Millwright Apprentice to join our team. This role involves hands-on work with machinery, including maintenance, assembly, and troubleshooting. It is an excellent opportunity for entry-level candidates to gain valuable experience and work towards becoming a licensed millwright.

Responsibilities

• Regularly change drive chains, bearings, belts, and other parts of machinery.

• Calibrate and set up new machinery for others to use.

• Dismantle or discard any outdated equipment.

• Assist with operating certain types of machinery.

• Inspect equipment and test to ensure it runs safely and correctly.

• Assemble machinery while following blueprints, schematics, and manuals.

• Fabricate brackets and mounts to hold equipment safely.

• Use welding and other skills to create parts of machinery.

• Install electrical conduits or wiring to help machines run correctly.

• Diagnose potential problems with machines and repair them.

Essential Skills

• Construction and mechanical skills.

• Mathematically inclined.

• Attention to detail.

• Assembly and general labor skills.

• Proficiency with hand tools and power tools.

• Mechanical troubleshooting.

• Experience with oil changes, welding, blueprints, repair, and hydraulics.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High School Diploma.

• Valid Driver's License.

• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.

Work Environment

Millwright Union members work on a variety of construction projects, including industrial plants and commercial construction sites. You will work in various manufacturing plants, large-scale new construction buildings, ethanol and energy plants, etc. The standard hours are Monday to Friday, from 7 AM to 4 PM.
