Description

We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Code Enforcement Officer in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. This role involves ensuring compliance with building, fire, health, and zoning codes within the community. The successful candidate will be involved in a variety of tasks, including researching and analyzing properties, monitoring development projects, and responding to citizen complaints.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct inspections of buildings, structures, and premises to identify violations of codes

• Prepare comprehensive reports of discovered violations and issue citations accordingly

• Provide assistance and information regarding code requirements to the public

• Develop and implement effective compliance enforcement plans

• Monitor and inspect permitted construction activities to ensure adherence to codes

• Register and monitor vacant buildings and properties within the jurisdiction

• Perform state-required public assembly inspections

• Develop and present educational materials related to code enforcement

• Respond to citizen complaints and investigate reported code violations

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Code Enforcement Officer role or role with similar responsibilities

• Proficiency in CRM and experience with budget processes.

• Strong computer research skills.

• Familiarity with compiling documents and maintaining organized records.

• Experience in compliance documentation and ensuring adherence to regulations.

• Exceptional administrative skills including scheduling, reporting, and managing correspondence.

• Ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, and policies related to code enforcement.

• Strong communication skills to clearly explain regulations and procedures to the public.

• Ability to handle confrontational situations and resolve disputes in a professional manner.

• High standard of ethics and integrity.

• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
