Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The employee will report to Professor Rebekah L. Rogers and will be a senior member of Professor Rogers’s research group, supporting projects through original research, collaboration with other team members, and mentoring of students. The employee will also contribute to additional proposal efforts, thereby strengthening UNC Charlotte’s ability to attract external funding. The postdoc is required to publish manuscripts. The postdoc is required to follow NIH ethics guidelines regarding academic integrity, data management, and record keeping.

The employee’s principal research responsibilities will be population genomics of genome structure changes in non-model Drosophila and other metazoans. The employee will confer with Professor Rogers on overall research direction and strategy but will exercise a considerable amount of independent judgment and original thinking in carrying out research that contributes to original knowledge and advances the University’s reputation in research. The employee will publish research results, in collaboration with Professor Rogers, in recognized journals.

Minimum Experience / Education:

The Postdoctoral appointee must have recently (within the last eight years) been awarded a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g., Sc.D., M.D.). At minimum PhD with 0 years experience, maximum 5 years postdoctoral experience.

Preferred Education Skills and Experience:

Ph.D. in Biology, Computer Science, or other computational field, specializing in genome sequence analysis. A strong experimental or theoretical background with evidence of empirical skills related to genome sequence analysis is required.
