About the role

As a CBRE Lead Counsel Sr., you will be responsible for handling complex contracts, projects and related matters as part of the Global Workplace Solutions business line. Provide functional advice or training to less experienced attorneys.

What you’ll do

  • Review, negotiate and draft contracts and transactional documentation related to global commercial real estate services, including facilities management, project management, transaction management and consulting services.

  • Identify and assess legal and risk issues.

  • Develop understanding of key insurance products and risk management principles.

  • Provide legal counsel and guidance to executives, managers and other employees on legal aspects of the Global Workplace Solutions business line.

  • Maintain current knowledge of the law in areas of special interest to the business.

  • Conduct legal training sessions (either live or virtually) and assist in the preparation of training materials.

  • Coordinate and assign tasks to co-workers within a work unit or project team.

  • Lead project teams to great outcomes.

  • May have responsibility for identifying training needs, tracking performance, coaching, and motivating a work unit or group.

  • Perform other job-related duties as may be assigned.

What you’ll need

J.D. from ABA accredited university

Member of applicable State Bar in good standing. 10+ years of private practice and/or in-house experience.

Strong communication skills are critical. Ability to interact effectively and collaboratively with the Company’s executives, professionals, staff and other employees, as well as with legal colleagues within the same department and globally, and to negotiate contracts opposite experienced in-house counsel and sophisticated outside counsel. Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex business documents. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive issues. Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to executives, employees, clients and/or public groups. Ability to motivate and negotiate effectively with key employees and client groups to take desired action.

Ability to solve advanced problems and deal with a variety of options in complex situations. Requires expert level analytical skills with proven experience in developing strategic solutions for a growing matrix-based multi-industry sales environment. Draws upon the analysis of others and makes recommendations of significance to the operation.

Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and set priorities with excellent follow-up skills and organization. Experience in supervising outside counsel is helpful.

Decisions made with thorough understanding of procedures, company policies, and business practices to achieve great results and meet deadlines.

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The maximum salary for the Sr. Lead Counsel position is $250,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE’s applicable benefit program.
