Work Schedule: 8 Hr (8:00:00 AM - 4:30:00 AM)

Summary:

The Rush University Medical Center Internal Audit Department covers all Medical Center operations including RUMC hospital, Rush Oak Park Hospital, Rush University, and Rush University Medical Group. The Senior Auditor I position reports directly to the Manager of Internal Audit. The position provides exposure to various levels of management and multiple business processes across the entire Medical Center operations. External training opportunities are provided annually to all members of the Rush Internal Audit team. There is minimal travel required for this job. The individual who hold this position exemplifies the Rush Medical Center mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and perform various audit and consulting engagements independently and in a team-oriented environment.

  • Document and assess internal controls and related risks.

  • Present audit findings to management

  • Write Internal Audit Reports that summarize the results of audits performed and develop recommendations for improvements.

  • Perform follow-up reviews to ensure internal audit recommendations are implemented.

  • Maintain audit files in accordance with RUMC Internal Audit Standards.

  • Provide assistance to Staff Auditors.

  • Assist external auditors as necessary.

Required Job Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.

  • Three years previous audit experience.

  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Word and Excel.

  • Positive interpersonal skills for interacting and presenting to all levels of management.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong understanding of internal controls.

  • Ability to perform complex audit assignments independently, with limited management supervision.

  • Possess the industry knowledge and business acumen to develop recommendations to mitigate risk and improve control efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Ability to effectively use data analytics when performing audit engagements.

Preferred Job Qualifications:

  • Public accounting and/or healthcare experience.
