Job Description:

The staff accountant is an important part of the finance and accounting department at Deutsche Leasing North America. The staff accountant records most of the transactions performed in the group, and must learn the overall operations of the company so they can support functions from Sales, Risk and Operations in addition to the Accounting and Finance Department.

Job Responsibilities:

• Generated ACH batch files for upload to the bank

• Deposits of checks through the check readers for Wintrust (US) and RBC (Canada)

• Record receipts and ensure matching between bank statement, cash subledger and general ledger

• Set up wires and ACH payments for contract funding and general payables

• Record these transactions correctly in the cash subledger and the general ledger

• Daily review of bank balance and cash subledger balance for US and Canada

• Monthly reconciliation of bank, cash subledger and general ledger balances for US and Canada

• Track and post journal entries for company owned fixed assets, and ensure that new fixed asset cards are correctly set up for new purchased asset

• Reconcile and post entries for prepaid expense, accounts payable and receivable, and accrued liabilities

• Support Senior Accountant on reconciliation and investigations on commissions and subsidies

• Post intercompany invoices as well as calculation and booking of interest for intercompany loans.

• Book and reconcile accounts for right of use assets and lease liabilities

• Assemble weekly cost of funds report

• Prepare and file sales tax for US states and Canada provinces

• Assemble monthly updates to currency rates report

• Maintain report for monthly trial balance

• Review existence of necessary exchange rates and input of floating interest rates

  Requirements

Qualifications

Accounting degree plus 1+ years experience in an accounting role
