POSITION SUMMARY:
- Supervise the creation, organization and instruction of a recreation program for youth, including arts and crafts, academic activities, physical activities, and special interest activities.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead organized learning activities for students to develop and strengthen their academic, physical, and social skills.
- Differentiate lessons and activities appropriate to students with various abilities.
- Implement discipline techniques and classroom management strategies.
- Provide assistance to students during homework time.
- Provide basic first aid services as needed and assess needs in more serious situations.
- Ensure safety and supervision of children at all times.
- Assure classroom and other shared school space is well maintained, cleaned and organized.
- Assist in attendance recordkeeping and parent pick up procedures.
- Maintain positive parent relations.
- Act appropriately and professionally as a mentor and role model for school age children at all times.
- Follow NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct for Early Childhood Adult Educators.
- Be familiar with Arizona Department of Health Services Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.), Substantive Policies, and Arizona Revised Statutes (A.R.S.) for Child Care Facilities.
- In the absence of the coordinator, be able to respond promptly and courteously to parent concerns and complaints.
- In the absence of the coordinator, be able to take charge and direct children and staff in case of an emergency.
