Meridian Energy Asset & Work Performance Manager in Christchurch, New Zealand

In this role you’ll lead a team that supports the business with monitoring and improving the performance of our iconic assets along with the efficiency and effectiveness of the work being done on them. As part of the Data and Performance leadership team, you will work with your peers to maximise the value Meridian gets from our data. You will lead your team to ensure we are doing the right maintenance on our assets at the right time and defining what is needed to transition the business to a more predictive and condition-based maintenance strategy. Success in this role is highly dependent on building engagement and collaborating with customers inside and outside the Generation business to understand their needs, ask the right questions from our data, deliver value and tell the story. You will prioritise initiatives for your team to build credibility through successful execution. You will also manage the team’s capacity to respond to requests for data insights, resolve issues and provide reliability engineering services. As a leader you will take an interest in developing yourself and the team around you to provide the capabilities needed by the business. This role can be based in Wellington, Christchurch or Twizel (and possibly remote for the right candidate). You’ll have prior experience in Asset Management and an engineering qualification will be beneficial but not essential. You’ll need to have a strong appetite for continuous learning and development, and readily be able to understand the Generation business and how it drives and delivers value. You’ll be capable of leading a high performing team and have experience developing and coaching team members, as well as excellent communication and collaboration skills to suit any audience. You’ll think and act strategically and engage with a diverse community of technical contributors to formulate strategies that support Meridian’s wider purpose whilst maintaining a focus on end user/customer needs. We’ve got a strong culture - we like to work hard and have fun while we’re doing it. We live by three ‘How to Be’s’: be gutsy, be a good human, and be in the waka. Meridian is truly flexible, diverse and inclusive: in our workplace, you can feel comfortable bringing your whole self to work. Our flexible work options make things easier for you and your whānau. And we also offer an attractive salary package and benefits like life and income protection insurance, enhanced leave, KiwiSaver and parental leave provisions, discounts from Meridian and other organisations, and a Meridian employee share scheme.  All in all, we reckon we’ve got a pretty special place to work. If you think you’re an awesome fit not only for this role but for Meridian, apply today and tell us why! If you’ve any questions, please email and someone will get back to you.
