For more information, please visit our website atwww.sunchemical.comor connect with us onLinkedInorTwitter Job Title: Production Supervisor - Color Material Ops Shift: 2nd/3rd Shift Location: Cincinnati Ohio (on-site) The Production Supervisor is responsible for training, planning, scheduling, and directing the work of a group of hourly plant workers. This will include all aspects of safety, housekeeping, production, quality, and cost control in running the areas of responsibility effectively and efficiently. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Optimize production results through training and instruction to operators in safe chemical operating/handling procedures, trouble shooting, and correcting process difficulties and impediments in all aspects of the operation using ISO training and documentation. Maintain accurate and appropriate production records and reports. Ensure operator compliance with plant rules and regulations, including all plant safety and housekeeping rules. Handles employee discipline and employee grievances at the supervisor's level. Ensure compliance with the provisions of the union contract, as appropriate, and keep the plant manager advised of potential or actual labor/union related problems. Assure equal opportunity for all aspects of development of personnel. Perform routine and/or special duties, as directed, while closely monitoring and controlling quality and meeting the production requirements for all equipment in his/her area of responsibility while maintaining close control of all overtime hours worked. Ensure that documentation of and that batches moving between departments is correct and complete, including all aspects of customer quality. Checks and approves the timecards of subordinates. Assist in departmental budget preparation and expense control. Conduct monthly departmental safety meeting and issue minutes, conduct required safety and housekeeping tours, complete accident reports, investigations, and environmental incident reports in a timely manner. Handle employee coaching/discipline and grievances REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 3-5 years' experience supervising hourly production areas and personnel, preferably in a union environment and preferably in a chemical processing environment. Strong analytical skills, as well as strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to accomplish routine goals yet react quickly to changing plant priorities. Strong influential, collaboration and situational leadership skills. Ability to read, analyze, manipulate, and interpret data. Able to use problem solving tools (Root Cause Analysis Tools for More Effective Problem-Solving: Pareto Chart, The 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram, Scatter Diagram, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)) Able to use lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools (VSM, OEE, RCA, PDCA/A3, 5- Why's) Proficiency with Microsoft Office (mainly, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel) Passionate about driving performance improvements.
