VCA Northwest Veterinary Specialists Internal Medicine team is expanding and we are looking to add a Veterinary Technician Assistant to our Team!
VCA Northwest Veterinary Specialists Internal Medicine Service:
Internal Medicine specialists are often considered the puzzle solvers of Veterinary Medicine. VCA NVS's Internal Medicine service is equipped to deal with whatever problem a patient brings—no matter how common or rare, or how simple or complex. Our Internal Medicine service diagnoses and treats the many serious diseases that can affect our patients' internal body systems.
Our IM Technicians and Assistants better understand body systems and the disease process, learn advanced diagnostic testing, provide excellent patient care, and treat patients with cutting-edge techniques. The responsibilities of the Technicians and Veterinary Assistants are to provide support to the Internists and to be part of a collaborative environment to provide thorough patient care.
Our Patient Care Team are a vital reason we can help patients feel better and why pet parents feel a little more at ease because their family members are being cared for with great medicine and warm hearts.
The skills that will be utilized include, but are not limited to:
Restraining and assisting in patient exams and routine procedures
Taking detailed medical histories and patient vitals
Filling prescriptions (as allowed by law)
Performing laboratory work and diagnostic imaging
Providing compassionate care for our hospitalized animals
Assisting our Doctor and Technician staff as needed
Manage client invoices (PVL) and charge for emergency services appropriately
Maintain accurate and complete medical records
Helping clients and doctors during humane euthanasias
Maintain a clean work environment to maintain any infectious disease protocols, handle medical/biomedical and infectious waste appropriately
Maintain inventory and supplies for procedures and patient husbandry
Schedule: Full-time schedule, 5 x 8 hour days, Monday- Friday 9 am - 5 pm.
Compensation: $22 - 26/ hour. Pay dependent on experience.
Requirements:
Minimum 1 year experience working in a veterinary hospital
High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
Excellent communication skills necessary to interact effectively with coworkers, referring veterinarians, clients, and patients; ability to readily learn new procedures, must be adaptable
Ability to work independently while supporting a busy, high-producing department
Compassion for pets and people, understanding and respect for others’ choices.
Willingness to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
The ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and be exposed to hazards associated with allergens, contagious diseases, noises, odors, bites, scratches, and animal waste.
