Shift: 7-3:30, 7:30-4, 8:30-5, 9:30-6, 10:30-7

Summary:
Provides support services in the Multi-Specialty Endoscopy Unit, under the direction and guidance of a Registered Nurse/Licensed Practical Nurse. Disinfects, sterilizes and maintains endoscopes. Assists with procedural room set-up and turnover, transports patients and equipment, cleans and stocks area. Functions as a member of the Endoscopy Team. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.
Qualifications:
Required: High school diploma or passage of a high school equivalency exam. Experience in perioperative protocols (i.e., sterile techniques and field avoidance), sterilization, or clinical sanitation. Current American Heart Association BLS for the Healthcare Provider certification or obtains within 90 days of hire. Successful completion of department specific competency evaluation within 90 days of job date. Successful completion of vendor-sponsored maintenance and repair training classes. Reliable transportation to travel to MHS endoscopy sites. Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Preferred: Endoscopy suite experience. Six months to one year of Endoscopy Technician experience. Recent experience in the cleaning and sterilization of medical instruments. Recent clinical patient care experience involving aseptic technique. Attendance (within 1 year) at vendor sponsored-training class for endoscopic repair and maintenance.
Physical Requirements: May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and walk intermittently during the day. May need to sit or stand for extended periods. See in the normal visual range with or without correction. Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Ability to lift up 35 pounds. Ability to lift 250-300 pounds with assistance. Ability to push/pull up to 500 pounds with assistance. Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids. Requires some exposure to chemicals and cleaning products.
