About the Job: In this position, you will perform accounting and analytical duties on various rotations such as cash and investment assignments while collaborating with team members and city stakeholders. With a strong focus on accuracy and financial integrity, you will enhance your professional experience and knowledge in a rewarding environment.
The Team: The Accounting team is comprised of five accountants that report to the Accounting Supervisor. They work closely together on a daily basis and rotate most assignments depending on accountant level. Our strong team mentality ensures an experienced network for learning.
Work Schedule. Monday to Friday, in-office position offers a collaborative environment where you'll engage in accounting activities and financial reporting. As you grow in your role, there may be opportunities for a future hybrid telework schedule.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in a related area of study
One year of full-time, professional experience in accounting or finance related field.
One year of relevant work experience may be substituted for one year of required education (OR) one year of relevant academic coursework beyond the minimum requirement may be substituted for one year of required professional experience.

Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities:
As an Accountant I, you will:
Conduct research, prepare detailed reports, and perform data analysis for assigned projects and rotations
Ensure accounting activities are in compliance with applicable standards and specifications including general ledger reconciliation, financial reporting, and record keeping
Provide assistance in resolving accounting and budget problems; identify problems; conduct research to find solutions; make recommendations; and take appropriate actions
Participate in the annual financial audit and provide information and supporting documentation for the auditors; analyze and reconcile all funds
Assist in the preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the City of Colorado Springs and its' reporting entities
Maintain, reconcile, and audit a variety of accounts, general ledgers and reports; examine and correct accounting transactions to ensure accuracy; tabulate financial and statistical data; and prepare monthly reconciliations and special reports relating to the progress of assigned funds
