The Program & Experiential Learning Coordinator for the College of Business provides professional level administrative and operational support to the College of Business (COB) Career Development Center and the Sport Management Program. The position manages or assists with the internal functioning of both offices and assists with the implementation of goals and objectives of the College of Business Career Development Center and the Sport Management Program in various manners. The position is responsible for coordinating student internships and experiential learning opportunities, event planning, day-to-day operations, and administering a variety of projects and COB activities. Some evenings and weekends may be required. Other duties as assigned.

Job Duties:

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

Experiential Learning Coordination.

  • Identifies and matches College of Business students to experiential learning opportunities (internships, part- or full-time employment, volunteer positions, etc.).

  • Assists employers with understanding UCCS vetting process for campus- and/or department approved job board(s), and aids in posting experiential learning or employment opportunities on said board(s) and/or distributes opportunities for EComm when appropriate for students to review and apply.

  • Counsels and mentors students before, during, and after experiential learning opportunities.

  • Processes all applications and evaluations for experiential learning for credit and ROAR Experiential Learning experiences received from students, as well as employer verifications, for all College of Business students. Maintains accurate records of the status of all student internships for the purposes of department in OnBase or other tracking systems for AACSB, SARA, and any other regulated reporting streams.

  • Assists with the facilitation of unpaid experiential learning grant program through application review, approval/denial process, and assists with processing requests for disbursement as needed.

  • Develops and maintains a network of organizations (and community members) to support experiential learning opportunities.

  • Educates students and employers about the benefits and requirements of internships and experiential learning that will foster rigorous learning in a professional setting.

  • When and if necessary, evaluates each experiential learning site before, during, and after an internship has been completed.

  • Helps prepare students for experiential learning opportunities. This may include meeting with students for resume review or interview skills training as necessary, with primary focus on SPTM students.

Organizes and coordinates projects and events.

  • Responsible for event planning, marketing, and management, to include venue selection, technology support, catering, promotions, EComm, registrations, and necessary procurement for career workshops and events.

  • Travels and attends offsite career focused events (e.g. speaker panels and recruiting, community, and other career-related networking events) as College of Business representative.

Plans and coordinates scheduling, budgeting, and administrative tasks.

  • Assists with the day-to-day administrative and operational activities of the Career Development Center.

  • Helps facilitate procurement that requires a purchase order.

  • Assists with the implementation of goals and objectives of the Career Development Center and the COB.

  • Helps interpret policies, directives, rules, and regulations for experiential learning issues raised by students, staff, and faculty, and provide background briefing to respective leadership in relation to these issues.

  • Represents the COB in appropriate professional and community settings.

Work Location: This position has the option to work partially remote as determined with supervisor.

This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

What We Offer:

Salary Range: Generally starting at $41,287 - $53,273 per year.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.

Tentative Search Timeline:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completed Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.

  • At least two (2) years of full-time equivalent clerical or administrative experience.

  • At least one (1) year of full-time equivalent professional event planning experience (for example, as a job duty of a current or previous position).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with faculty, staff, and students in a traditional university setting.

  • Experience with student internships.

  • Experience with campus information systems and reporting tools (e.g. PeopleSoft, Concur Travel & Expense System).

  • Experience working in the career development and/or sport management field.

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit.

  • Employee is occasionally required to move.

  • Tasks may involve using a computer screen continuously for long periods of time

  • Ability to use a keyboard and mouse continuously for long periods of time.

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
