Job Description: The Field Engineering Specialist must be familiar with WSOMS, with experience at WSOCs or SATCON Enterprise Terminals. This position supports the WSOTS II program. Responsibilities include capturing wideband operations and regional support centers Plant-In-Place information required to update baselined documentation. Primary emphasis on expert functions for physical configuration capture, review, and redline non-CAD technical documentation of equipment specifications, subsystem circuit characteristics, wiring power panel systems, subsystem connection diagrams, and rack elevations at various CONUS and OCONUS customer site locations.

In addition, this position requires a person with a strong background in wideband SATCOM operation center, regional support centers, and information, computer, and technology (ICT) technical documentation requirements. High-level knowledge of wideband SATCOM and communications control systems is desired. Knowledge of appropriate DoD hardware installation and configuration procedures is required.

Essential Functions:

The Field Engineering Specialist duties include but are not limited to:

  • Performs system analysis of the WSOMS for the purposes of documenting system configurations within the Plant in Place (PIP) drawing packages

  • Experience with IT, Networking, telecommunications, and RF equipment; with the ability to trace signal flow for accurate documentation

  • Reviews, develops, creates, and redlines tables, connection diagrams, rack elevations, and other PIP associate drawings

  • Generates, collects, and incorporates all non-CAD sections of the document

  • Support CAD reviews, development, creation, and redline of plant-in-place documentation of PIP facility drawings, connection diagrams, rack elevations, and other technical data elements

  • Produce technical writing, collect, and enter data, maintain attention to detail across multiple technical data sections, and skill in prioritization and multi-tasking

  • Process control ensures data integrity

  • Chairs Technical Review Board meeting

  • Support supervising final assembly of document

  • Help ensure delivery of final technical document per schedule

  • Edits trip report as requested

Qualifications:

  • TS security clearance required

  • Requires proficient knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience. May have practical knowledge of project management. Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/ Associates Degree and a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.

  • Security + or DoD 8570.01 equivalent certification

  • 25% travel with position

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • MILSATCOM experience with emphasis on computer-based satellite network control systems and IT

  • Experience in the management of WSOTS II computer networks with skills particular to the administration of a Windows and AD domain environment

  • Hardware installation experience with Telecommunications, RF, IT, and Networking equipment

  • Experience with AutoCAD

  • Security administration experience in support of RMF requirements

  • Working knowledge of RMF and cyber security requirements

  • Previous experience supporting DoD/government customers

  • Experience with continuous integration, build management, and/or automated test frameworks

  • Hardware/software requirement verification/system validation experience

  • Demonstrated ability to work and grow in a dynamic, fast paced, team-oriented environment

  • Demonstrated self-starter - efficient in achieving goals and proactive in pursuing subsequent task
