General Summary:

Provides communications counsel and support to promote Unum’s corporate brand, protect its reputation and inspire key audiences to act by delivering the right message at the right time in the right way.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of communications tasks related to internal and external brand and reputational strategy and messaging.

  • Promote Unum’s external reputation as an employer-of-choice, good corporate citizen and champion of inclusion and diversity.

  • Coordinate priority corporate awards applications and approvals.

  • Coordinate corporate sponsorship evaluations and execution.

  • Maintain and implement detailed reputational and incident management communications processes and procedures.

  • Social media content creation and curation.

  • Advertising/communications material content creation.

  • Independently develop integrated communication content and project plans with a special corporate brand and reputation focus.

  • Serve as corporate brand consultant to develop and manage content for communications business partners and project teams.

  • Collaborate, communicate, and negotiate with cross functional partners with content management and delivery supporting corporate business objectives.

  • Regularly interact with C-Suite / senior leadership and draft internal and external announcements and disclosures, as needed.

  • Draft and edit presentation materials as requested for corporate, business or functional purposes. Must be able to work with confidential and time sensitive information.

  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Job Specifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years’ experience in marketing, communications, or related field

  • Must possess solid written and verbal communications skills and content judgment

  • Requires strong PowerPoint skills or similar presentation software experience.

  • Knowledge of designing and supporting an internet or intranet site a plus.

  • Must be familiar with the creation and development of electronic publications.

  • Knowledge of web-based communication tools (SharePoint).

  • Strong project management and strategic thinking skills, with a high-level of initiative.

  • Must have demonstrated, through previous positions, an ability to meet deadlines.

  • Must be able to work successfully with a wide variety of internal audiences and business. partners, as well as have the ability to simultaneously contribute to multiple projects.

  • Must possess basic knowledge of social media.

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.

$53,300.00-$95,900.00

Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not.
