• Our group is Middleware Operations group - WebSphere, tomcat, Apache, DataPower

• Container space taking on more there- OpenShift, Kubernetes

• Enterprise event hub – support that, all container based

• Manage DataPower space as well

• Linux based

• Automation – looking to expand that - Big thing is scripting/automation/programming at times would be good

• Linux scripting, Bash, Perl, python, ansible

• Heavy in container- Json and Yaml

• IAAS – don’t do traditional go out to server and edit server, we treat Infra as code, deployments we have automated process, building images from that, work with a lot of automation tools

• Jenkins/rundeck/Jenkins pipelines

• Experience in the middleware space is needed, but not looking for someone who only knows WebSphere and tomcat, need a breadth of experience in middleware and automation

• Onshore operations team currently has 5 with this person included

• On call rotation – once every 5 weeks

• Knowledge gap isn’t within middleware, it’s within more the automation right now

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced IT Technical Specialist to join our Enterprise Middleware Operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the Middleware infrastructure necessary for the support of development teams throughout the system development lifecycle. This team has direct responsibility for supporting Enterprise Applications leveraging various technologies that include DataPower, MQ, WebSphere, IIB/ACE, Apache Tomcat, ColdFusion, Kubernetes and OpenShift.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support and maintain the Enterprise-Class Middleware and Container stack supporting a multitude of mission critical systems.

• Manage new capabilities, software upgrades/enhancements and provide direct support and consultation for application on-boarding and integration.

• Provide on-call support rotation for critical systems

• Automation of existing and new processes in order to increase our operational efficiencies.

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to Middleware and Container technologies.

• Collaborate with development teams to provide technical expertise and guidance.

• Ensure high availability and performance of Middleware and Container systems through proactive monitoring and maintenance.

• Continuously improve processes and procedures for Middleware operations

• Understand and contribute to the development of overall IT strategies

• Be familiar with industry trends in technology and architecture.

• Participate in team meetings, reviews, and project status reports.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or related field or equivalent business experience.

• Solid knowledge of TCP/IP and Web protocols (HTTP, XML).

• Minimum 2 years experience with AIX & RHEL.

• 5 years experience supporting IBM Middleware products: WebSphere, MQ, DataPower, IHS.

• Minimum 2 years experience supporting Red Hat OpenShift.

• 3-5 years experience supporting Apache, Tomcat, ColdFusion.

• Previous experience administering DataPower preferred.

• Experience with tools: UrbanCode, Spring Boot, and GIT.

• Scripting Languages preferred: Bash, Python, Ansible, GO, PHP, Javascript, and working with YAML/JSON

• Previous experience in designing and engineering of environments in a 24x7 mission critical environment.

• Experience with design principles of high availability solutions leveraging technologies such as local and geographic clustering, load balancing.

• Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes experience: Understanding Kubernetes daemon sets. Troubleshoot POD startup failures. Experience creating and editing docker files and pulling images from repositories.

• Previous experience supporting AWS preferred.

• Forward thinking in terms of how to automate manual processes

• Ability to look at existing processes and think outside the box in order to improve them

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

• Exceptional verbal, written, organizational, and interpersonal skills are essential

• Previous Financial Services experience or knowledge is a plus.

• Microsoft Office experience

• Experience working in multi-platform environment.
