Mettler Toledo LLC Project Engineer in Columbus, Ohio

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities The Project Engineer has basic knowledge of industrial vehicle weighing equipment and weighing solutions. The Project Engineer is responsible for executing, planning, and/or coordinating technical engineering activities for static and dynamic vehicle weighing projects according to their schedule and budget. The basic duties include foundational research, product development, product testing, regulatory compliance, intellectual property protection, project execution according to METTLER TOLEDO Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) guidelines, and product support for industrial vehicle weighing equipment and weighing solutions. These projects may include full-length, single-axle, multi-axle, single-draft vehicle weigh-in-motion, low to high-speed vehicle weigh-in-motion, rail coupled-in-motion, and unattended weighing. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Analyze and solve routine problems Assist in new product development Participate in main design of projects, research and idea generation related to vehicle weighing Contribute to marketing and engineering design specifications for products. Contribute to the business justification for projects based on the vehicle strategy and business plan Collaborate in the manufacture of prototype and pilot products Perform product tests and validations at MT facilities or field sites, with internal and external partners. Align products with global compliance, safety, and cybersecurity regulations. Maintain awareness of intellectual property protection for products. Collaborate with the Service Team in the development of the product service concept. Prepare technical documentation, manuals, bulletins, sales tools, and training material. Participate in the product launch with the Product Manager and other MT marketing representatives. Participate as a sales/service/customer training instructor and/or in other sales/customer related presentations. Provide third tier active product life support for industrial vehicle weighing equipment and weighing solutions for technicians and customers. What You Need to Succeed Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field. Mechanical or Civil Engineering preferred with electrical and software experience considered a plus. Good organizational skills coordinating the work of multiple internal and external project contributors. Good understanding of design, scientific procedures and processes, and data analysis. Experience working in and with Excel, SQL, Python, R, SPSS, Power BI, or Tableau desired, or exposure to statistical language tools. Ability to effectively communicate plans, proposals, results, and negotiate options. Work effectively with other team members, including marketing and others from all MT business areas, in a highly variable and often stressful environment. The ability to work effectively and efficiently within a globally distributed development team in clear, concise written and verbal English.
