Scheduling Coordinator-Plastic Surgery Requisition ID 2024-48981 Category Administrative/Clerical Overview The Scheduling Coordinator - Plastic Surgery is responsible for managing the patient experience through in person and electronic scheduling activities. This involves coordinating the precertification, preauthorization, preregistration, and patient reminder activities in conjunction with scheduling and assisting in office. Responsibilities * Operates communication systems including but not limited to telephone/voicemail, email, EPIC, paging system, and multi-function devices i.e. fax/printer/ copier/scanner, while ensuring proper documentation. * Manages and coordinates new patient/referral information and chart creation. Assists in mychart setup and communicates with families prior to their appointment for any appointment needs through the pre-registration process. * Maintains patient lists and medical records, verifies patient information, schedules new and follow up visits, and works with internal and external departments on follow-up information. This includes any future scheduling noted or paperwork needed. * Completes mandatory office preparation checklist items to have the waiting room ready for the day, while disinfecting and stocking on and offstage areas in-between patients. Including notation of office stocking needs and linen needs. * Registers and accompanies patients to their assigned rooms when necessary. * Collaborates and participates with patient family events (hand camp, picnic, 22q at the Zoo). Qualifications Education: High school graduate or equivalent. Skills: Knowledge of filing, word processing, spreadsheet, medical terminology, coding, and office skills. Proficient in the use of a personal computer. Excellent customer service skills to interact with department staff and the public. Interpersonal skills necessary to deal with the public in a polite and effective manner. Experience: Two years previous secretarial experience in the medical office setting; surgical scheduling experience preferred.
