The pay range for this position is $24.90 - $33.47 per hour

The State of New Hampshire, Department of Safety, Division of Administration, Road Toll Bureau, has a full-time vacancy for Road Toll Auditor II, 13-2010 ACCTS-AUDITORS-4. This position has a 37.5 hour work week and is considered non-exempt.

SUMMARY: Analyzes and evaluates complex fuel tax information and completes extensive field audits of all accounts licensed with the Road Toll Administration, and any other accounts as required to insure they are in compliance with the New Hampshire statutes, regulations, and governing documents.

18 Months or 1.5 Years of additional relevant experience = Associate's degree

36 Months or 3 Years of additional relevant experience = Bachelor's degree

54 Months or 4.5 Years of additional relevant experience = Master's degree

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university with major study in accounting or business administration.

Experience: Three years' experience in auditing, accounting or related work.

OR

Education:Associate'sdegree from a recognized college or technical institute with major study in accounting or business administration, with at least three courses in accounting. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.

Experience: Five years' experience in auditing, accounting or related work.

License/Certification:Must possess a valid driver's license.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Selected candidate will undergo a fingerprint based criminal background check and motor vehicle record check in order to ensure suitability for exposure to confidential information.

  2. Must be willing to travel throughout New Hampshire for a considerable portion of the working time and travel throughout the United States when required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs field audits on taxpayers at their corporate headquarters, representatives offices, or other licensees locations, to prove accuracy of reports filed. This requires considerable travel, both within and outside the state for extended periods of time.

Reviews and analyzes complex tax information, returns and prior audit results to identify compliance and audit issues.

Evaluates an auditees system of internal control on the records required to support the reports filed under the various licenses audited. Makes a determination of the degree of testing required based upon an interview of the licensee, and the review of records. Makes recommendations to auditees, based upon the current RSAs, Rules, and governing documents, so that they may avoid or reduce future assessments.

Upon completion of examinations, writes a comprehensive report, with work papers documenting the field audit results and procedures applied in each audit toinsurethat the audit is conducted in accordance with current professional standards.

Supervise, assist and train other auditors assigned to an audit, by providing technical expertise in various audit techniques or within a team environment on larger audits.

Prepares reports to supervisory personnel on status of open audits to provide accurate documentation of individual examination progress for scheduling purposes.

Maintains current knowledge of Road Toll legislation and regulations, environm ntal fund legislation and regulations, governing documents and department bureau policies.

Prepares report for supervisor when fraud is found and a brief when audit findings are contested. Both may require an appearance at administrative and court hearings to offer testimony.
