Job Description Summary : It is the responsibility of the incumbent to operate the equipment utilized in the By-Product area. The loader will also use a powered lift truck to move and load the finished products and other items. During weekend clean-up the incumbent is to report to the Sanitation Supervisor. Job Description • Monitors the salt addition system and keeps the system full at all times. • Monitors the operation of the starch room, to include cleaning the cyclones, loading the starch trucks. • Load out sheets for proper accounting of various loaded materials. • Prepares and maintains process control sheet data. • Monitors finished product integrity by visual inspecting for foreign material and sampling. • Cleans and sanitizes processing equipment during scheduled shutdown and at other times as directed by the supervisor. • Visually completes and monitors the filling of all starch, waste hopper and by-product trucks. • Loads trucks with finished product by use of a powered lift truck, if needed. Uses lift trucks to move salt and other items throughout the plant. • Will be responsible to clean, store and handle the waste tote bins. • Will assist the sliver operator as needed. SAFETY: Must have a complete knowledge and understanding of the plant safety rules including but not limited to the lockout-tagout procedure, chemical hazards and the hearing conservation program. Must have good personal hygiene and be able to practice safe work habits. Basic & Preferred Qualifications • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. • Must be certified to operate a powered lift truck to the level of an intermediate operator as determined by the company.
