ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

Role Profile

Position: Director of Quality

Reports to: Chief Operating Office

Job Location: Remote/Hybrid – Local LGG Industrial office or HQ office (Pittsburgh, PA)

Job Type: Full-Time

Status: Exempt

Summary of the Role

Quality assurance and quality control support resource for branches, manufacturing facilities and other LGG Industrial areas. Promotes process/product/service achievement and performance improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Must maintain 100% commitment to safety policies and procedures.

  • Follow all company Quality policies and procedures to ensure product integrity and quality control

  • Communicate LGG Industrial quality-related policies, specifications, process requirements, and performance measures throughout LGG Industrial branches and manufacturing locations.

  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities and initiatives.

  • Participate in material/product nonconformances and application performance failures.

  • Review quality-related specifications and aspects of material/ product/ services.

  • Review quality-related specifications and production capabilities prior to acceptance of any new product hose order.

  • Assist procurement in vendor selection and evaluation.

  • Manage ISO 9001-2015 quality management system ("QMS") tasks.

  • Perform Internal quality audits and directs branches with their corrective actions and opportunities for improvement.

  • Manage communication with auditors and lead the preparation and execution of all quality audits

  • Participate in customer conducted audits

  • Serve as liaison with customer/3rd-party quality auditors

  • Compile and report on quality-related performance measurements

  • Communicate proactively to employees and/or customers to ensure knowledge of required procedures and operations.

  • Provide periodic updates to senior management

  • Assist legal team as needed.

  • Support employee training processes

  • Maintain Master Coupler Certification Program.

  • Provide on job technical training.

  • Occasionally assist in health and safety tasks

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities

  • Required

  • Must maintain 100% commitment to safety policies and procedures, and highest level of confidentiality.

  • Basic design drawing interpretation (e.g. tolerancing, dimensions, material callout)

  • Basic to intermediate computer software skills (PRELUDE ERP, Microsoft Office, Skype for Business, SharePoint intranets, for example)

  • Intermediate to advanced industrial product (hose, gaskets) and service provision knowledge

  • Knowledge of product manufacturing (gaskets, hose/hose assembly, belting, machining, valves, seals, and industrial controls, for example

  • Excellent business knowledge, acumen and program management skills including the capability to effectively manage programs and processes across multiple areas of the organization.

  • Experience implementing quality and business process improvement initiatives.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills possessing proven record with quality tools.

  • Demonstrated leader, change agent, influencer, coach, and team builder.

  • Prefer hands-on experience implementing Quality initiatives in manufacturing, fabrication, field service and transactional areas.

  • Excellent presentation, communication, facilitation, and collaboration skills.

  • Willing to travel up to 20% of the time (primarily U.S. and Canada).

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products.

  • Preferred

  • Internal quality and external vendor auditing competency

  • Quality training curriculum development

  • Working knowledge of cost of quality/cost of poor-quality analysis

  • Ability to be deposed, or act as expert testimony in product liability action

  • Basic knowledge of industry standard metal welding processes/requirements

  • Able to work independent of daily direction; able to plan/schedule/execute assigned tasks within allotted time constraints,

  • Comfortable working directly with all LGG Industrial employee levels (warehouse to top management)

  • Able to travel (vehicle and airplane) when required; can manage short notice travel needs

  • Good communication skills (written, spoken, alone or with others)

  • Discernment in deciding when to elevate a situation or incident to a higher/ different management level

  • Certifications/Other Credentials such as Certified Internal or Lead Quality Auditor

Minimum Qualifications

  • Four-year college degree in a technical field.

  • Experience in leading and improving Quality Management Systems

  • Manufacturing experience in a Quality management role

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategy in a highly competitive business.
