Operations Manager - Number 1 Paper Machine, Covington, VA
The opportunity:
- As the Operations Manager on Number 1 Paper Machine you will impact the Number 1 Paper Machine department by managing the employees on shift to ensure the machine crews are meeting safety, availability, and yield goals that are set forth by management. You will also work with the area engineers to execute what is needed for the operating system to meet these goals.
How you will impact WestRock:
Manage the foremen and their crews to meet safety, availability, and yield goals
Create and verify the hourly schedule is correct week-to-week
Managing the machine fabric inventory
Creating additional goals for your direct reports and crews
Assuring day-to-day operations are being adequately executed
Verifying operator job training is being completed in the manner needed for the department to succeed
Conducting and leading morning and weekly MOS meetings
What you need to succeed:
10 years Papermaking experience
Strong leadership and direction skills
Demonstrated experience managing union relationships and labor relations
Possess exceptional oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to quickly adapt to change in the work environment
Demonstrated success in applying fresh, creative thinking and a growth mindset to complex challenges/problems resulting in high impact outcomes
Excellent cross-group collaboration, problem solving, and interpersonal skills
Competency with Microsoft Office tools, SAP, Ekho, PI, XFRACAS.
