In this role, you will be planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff. The Controller will be a permanent employment opportunity and will be located in the Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio region.

Key responsibilities

  • Support Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, with research, planning, and implementation, as required

  • Direct finance department activities, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Evaluate, apply and refine policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Manage monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, the reconciliations of accounts, and G/L analysis

  • Act on items beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them on a monthly basis

  • Handle daily cash management and produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals

  • Give financial reports to executive committee and partners each month

  • Support punctual cash collection by managing the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques

  • Assess deliverables of self and team to verify they meet client expectations

  • Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation Requirements - CPA/MBA preferred

  • Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines

  • Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment

  • Earlier experience in public accounting is highly valued

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities

  • The ideal candidate will be highly-skilled with exceptional analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Able to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds

  • Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills

  • Well-founded grasp of Accounts Payable (AP)

  • Ad Hoc Reporting experience preferred

  • Deep understanding of Commercial Property Management

  • General ledger experience

  • Financial reporting experience

  • Proven knowledge of bank reconciliations

  • Command of General Ledger System

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required
