Overview
We are seeking a qualified, experienced individual to join our company as an Automation Technician.
As part of our team, you will install, maintain, and replace automation systems throughout the production process.
Duties include troubleshoot component parts, including motion sensors, control components, photosensors, and other vital technology. In addition to maintaining smooth operation, you will operate as a subject matter expert (SME) for leadership and key decision makers- delivering reports on current automation capabilities and future opportunities. This is a specialized position, and our ideal applicant has considerable experience and education in engineering, robotics, and production automation.
Responsibilities
Compliance with all safety, food safety, HR programs, policies, and regulations
Meet deadlines, be accountable, and always set a positive example
Be customer focused and strive to produce the quality products they desire
Install, maintain, and replace automation systems at key points in the production process.
Troubleshoot non-functioning components including servos, sensors, and control components.
Log equipment usage, parts replacement, and scheduled maintenance to ensure maximum functionality.
Periodically report to leadership regarding automation capabilities and status.
Ability to make decisions quickly in an ever-changing atmosphere
Train and develop others
Qualifications:
Expert knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, Servos, ethernet and wireless communication systems as related to plant automation.
Ability to work various hours and shifts
Ability to work overtime when required
Advanced understanding and ability to troubleshoot, replace, and configure sensors and instrumentation such as photo-eyes, proximity switches, pressure, flow, level and temperature sensors.
Advanced understanding and ability to troubleshoot, configure, and replace non-similar motor control components such as starters, soft-starters, VFDs, and Servos.
Proficient in understanding and ability to troubleshoot root cause, configure, and replace non-similar controls hardware, such as input/output modules, human machine interfaces (HMIs), safety relays, and other industrial controls.
Working knowledge of all automation standard practices.
Advanced electrical knowledge and understanding of electrical safety.
Able to work on multiple control voltages (DC/AC) and up to 480V.
Advanced working knowledge and ability to troubleshoot and interpret Allen-Bradley and other PLC programs to understand how the machine functions and be able to make recommendations and/or identify the root cause of any issues.
Ability to read and interpret P&ID drawings, pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical schematics for use in system understanding and troubleshooting.
Diagnoses mechanical and electrical problems using technical drawings (e.g., blueprints, electronic/mechanical schematics) and diagnostic tools (e.g. multi-meter, laptop) solid verbal and written communication skills
Ability to perform in a high paced Team environment.
Previous leadership experience in manufacturing environment
Experience in production environment, particularly as it relates to automation technology.
Work history in the past 12 months
Must be eligible to work in the United States
Must be 18 years or older
Strong Organizational and Problem-Solving Skills
Proficient computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Excellent mechanical aptitude and communication skills.
