Description Robert Half is seeking an ambitious Controller to become a vital part at an esteemed services company. The leadership position is responsible for an accounting and clerical department. As the Controller, you will be planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff. This permanent position is for a Controller who will work in the Dallas, Texas region.

Your responsibilities

  • Responsible for month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

  • Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts

  • Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Prepare cash-flow reports that project cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and handle daily cash management

  • Present monthly financial reports to executive committee and partners

  • Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation

  • Drive the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to ensure the timely cash collection

  • Review and revise deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations

  • Research, prepare and execute Finance Department initiatives such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as required

  • Direct finance department activities, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll Requirements - Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment

  • Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

  • Microsoft Excel experience

  • Ability to handle multiple projects within strict deadlines

  • Prior work in technology, analytics and management experience desired

  • Be detailed, flexible, and organized

  • CPA or MBA preferred

  • Candidate must possess first-rate analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Excellent written, verbal and social communication skills

  • Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued

  • Self-starter and strong ethical standards

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
