GES Finance seeks a North America (NA) Finance Manager to provide primary support to visibility to NA Senior Leadership. This FM role involves providing controllership through collecting, analyzing and managing quantitative data and creating meaningful reports to track spending related to business operations and cost reductions across the global supply chain. This role also maintains spend and savings measurements, and partners with category management on strategic input drivers to continuously improve the scalability and efficiency of the engineering organization.

Key job responsibilities

  • Oversee financial reporting for your business area. Understand input drivers and validate integrity of the reporting to influence strategic decision-making and planning.

  • Use data to identify disruptive ideas and provide advice to business leaders across the globe. With Controllership as the top priority, you identify, resolve, or provide guidance to resolve complex data integrity issues. You improve controls to address financial risk and support frugality.

  • Educate business partners on financial and non-financial trade-offs.

  • You make thoughtful judgement calls in ambiguous environments where data may be scarce or difficult to procure.

  • Use active listening skills intuitively to communicate data (both written and verbal) in a clear, concise, and unambiguous manner. Adjust style for various audiences to articulate complex finance issues clearly. Your communications drive critical business decisions.

  • Have backbone, disagree and commit to foster constructive dialogues, harmonize conflicting views, resolve issues, and drive decisions.

  • Actively recruit bar-raising talent, continuously develop your team, and constructively mentor the Finance community. Identify and sponsor Finance-wide professional development and engagement initiatives that plan for the future and strengthen the global Finance community, such as inclusion and diversity initiatives.

About the team

The Global Engineering Services (GES) Finance Business Support team in the Global Engineering Services (GES) organization is dedicated to an unwavering commitment to controllership and employs rigorous data analysis and evaluation techniques to identify and support cost-to-serve improvements and long-term value creation. The GES business supports the greater Global Operations organization with end-to-end project lifecycle planning, design, execution, and integration. GES consists of six functional groups: Program Management (PMO); Engineering, Planning, & Analytics (EP&A); Operations Design & Construction (D&C); Startup (Project Management); Ops Engineering (Project Engineering); and Launch (Ops Integration). Each functional group provides unique support for projects across Global Operations, ranging from new launches and building expansions to retrofits of existing sites and more. The GES organization supports nearly all global site types, including North and South America, Europe, and emerging markets (Brazil & Australia) where Amazon is launching fulfillment operations. GES has a global presence in 21 countries across the North America, Europe and Middle East North Africa, and Emerging Markets.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field

  • 5+ years of finance or a related analytical field experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)

  • Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $81,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
