Job Description:
The Medical Scheduler requires expertise in all aspects of medical insurance guidelines and patient appointment scheduling. The position completes the appointment process and related tasks for new and established patients. This position provides first point of contact with patient and must demonstrate a friendly demeanor and excellent patient relations.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED ; at least 1 year but less than 3 years of experience in high volume medical scheduling; at least 1 year but less than 3 years of medical office experience; knowledge of medical terminology and medical insurance guidelines.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Two or more years experience with high volume patient scheduling in an ENT and/or Audiology practice preferred
Strong patient relations skills required
Strong personal computer literacy required including working knowledge of relevant software packages such as Microsoft Office—Excel and Word.
Familiarity and experience with practice management and medical software programs/scheduling
Ability to work accurately with data, including checks for integrity, summation, and effective communication to internal and external constituents
Organized and effective at dealing with several activities simultaneously; strong organizational skills required; ability to prioritize
Self-starter with the ability to work independently
Demonstrates the highest degree of accuracy and readability for all work and team projects
Protects patient health information ( PHI ) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act ( HIPAA ) standards
Bilingual in Spanish preferred
