The Opportunity

Black & Veatch has an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager focused on Planning & Asset Management in Texas and the lower central region, including Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Arkansas.

Our U.S. Texas and lower central region Planning & Asset Management business has seen consistent growth driven by our clients’ needs to address challenges stemming from population growth, aging infrastructure, system reliability and resilience concerns, the need to improve operational efficiency, water quality regulations, integration of water and wastewater systems, and the use of “big data” to help guide decision making. This Project Management position represents a strategic business opportunity for Black & Veatch to help the company grow its market share by providing world-class water & wastewater infrastructure planning and asset management services.

The Team

BV’s Governments & Environment business works to provide innovative solutions and integrated planning, design and construction support for mission-critical facilities, as well as threat reduction and environmental services support worldwide. By joining our business, you will be able to provide infrastructure for community benefit through regulated utilities and government agencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a Team that provides technical solutions and differentiation focused on water distribution, wastewater collection, recycled water, water quality regulations and utility infrastructure systems

  • Evaluate water and wastewater system’s capacity, condition, resilience, operating efficiency, and water quality

  • Analysis and projections of water demands and wastewater flows

  • Use of risk-based assessments to develop and prioritize capital improvement programs

  • Integration of condition assessment and asset management data into system master planning and to directly support replacement & renewal planning

  • Lead a Team with the use of cutting-edge hydraulic modeling, GIS, asset management, and data visualization software to help solve client issues

  • Provide project execution and technical leadership to support Planning & Asset Management projects

  • Lead and provide technical expertise to support marketing and business development

  • Work closely with Client Directors and the Area Director to leverage existing and build new relationships with clients and decision makers in Texas and lower central region.

  • Help mentor professionals and grow the Team by identifying high quality candidate and recruits

  • Support pursuit, proposal, and project interview activities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient with technical and thought leadership surrounding water and wastewater infrastructure systems

  • Proficient in a client-facing role

  • 15+ years of infrastructure assessment experience including hydraulic modeling, master planning, condition assessment, asset management, and data analysis

  • Experience leading technical tasks and project teams and executing water distribution and wastewater collection system studies and assessments that involve system operations modeling, optimization techniques, risk & resiliency evaluations, capital and life-cycle cost analyses, CIP prioritization

  • Experience with data analyses, analytics, and visualization

  • Proficient with report writing and PowerPoint presentations

  • Experience in developing proposals and leading technical discussions during client interviews/projects

  • Experience and/or familiarity with Geographic Information System (GIS) technology and software (i.e. ArcGIS)

  • Capable in MSWord, MSExcel, PowerPoint

  • Familiarity of dynamic data visualization software such as PowerBI

  • Experience and/or familiarity with hydraulic modeling software such as:

  • InfoWorks ICM and WS

  • WaterGEMS

  • InfoWater

  • EPANet

  • EPASWMM

  • PCSWMM

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

  • Hybrid work schedule: 3 days in office and 2 days remote

  • Typical office environment, typical construction environment, extreme weather conditions, high noise level, safety hazards (electric currents, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to chemicals), atmospheric conditions (fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, poor ventilation). Sitting, walking, talking, hearing, reading, writing, keyboarding, driving, filing, reaching, stooping, crouching, bending, standing for extended periods of time, lifting or carrying up to 40 pounds.
