Amazon's "Last Mile" (AMZL) delivery service is responsible for delivering packages (and smiles) to households/businesses across the planet. Our finance team closely partners to support this rapidly expanding business while building a portfolio of delivery stations, vans, and technology to deliver customers' packages on time - often next day, sometimes faster. We augment our traditional "deliver by van" with other models including Amazon Flex (gig economy drivers), Amazon Lockers, and more - all designed to deliver smiles to our customers. AMZL Central Finance seeks a Senior Financial Analyst to lead and oversee critical planning and controllership functions in the Delivery Station Fixed cost space as part of the Fixed Cost team. The Fixed Cost Team is focused on improving the overall delivery station network through designing cost effective strategies, driving continuous process improvements, supporting strategic decision making and automating financial modeling and reporting. This role partners closely with a broad range of finance and operations leaders who share a common goal of delivering the Best-in-Class delivery experience. The role works with stakeholders and business partners, often engaging with teams such as, Supply Chain, Operations, Controllership Finance, Talent Planning, Fintech and FP&A. This role designs, develops, and maintains performance measurements and reports on strategic input drivers to continuously improve the economics of the business.

A typical day in this role provides an opportunity to innovate by building creative solutions with large-scale data mining tools, identifying the high-priority work and projects that maximize results for key stakeholders, and solving complex problems that affect company-wide strategic decisions.

Key job responsibilities

  • Delivers weekly/monthly financial close. Utilizes financial systems and advanced BI reporting tools to optimize decision making with large data sets. Outputs plans, forecasts, budgets, and consolidations.

  • Demonstrated ability to root cause issues quickly and uncover core issues using data, then assist, consult with, and teach the business how decisions affect costs or plan in the network and create new mechanisms, as they are needed.

  • Expertise in collecting, analyzing and managing quantitative data to create meaningful analysis to support business improvements through cost optimization. Works with a variety of data sources. Identifies incomplete or inaccurate data, identifies root causes of data issues, escalates discrepancies, fixes data where possible or partners to deliver an automated solution.

  • Lead standardization of network processes to promote consistent and accurate financial reporting including mechanisms to drive adoption. Identifies and implements solutions to resolve, improve, automate, or simplify finance processes.

  • Proven ability to develop strategic relationships with your business partners and influence decisions.

  • Leverage cross-functional partnerships with stakeholders to drive network projects.

  • Makes thoughtful time management decisions independently. Prioritizes work, resolves issues, meets deadlines, and seeks feedback from your manager. Discerns between urgent and non-urgent issues and acts accordingly to solve them.

  • Uses active listening skills intuitively to communicate data (both written and verbal) in a clear, concise, and unambiguous manner. Adjusts style for various audiences to articulate complex finance issues clearly.

Basic Qualifications

  • BA or BS in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a highly analytical field (e.g., Engineering, Math, Computer Science)

  • 3+ years of finance experience or a related analytical field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient in SQL, Python or R.

  • Expertise in advanced data visualization tools such as QuickSight, PowerBI, Tableau or Excel.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $56,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $128,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
